Spring Moderator September 7, 2020 Author Share September 7, 2020 James Rodriguez joins Everton from Real Madrid for £22mil. He was one of the biggest names in World football not too long ago but his form n price has come down dramatically. He was worth more than 3x this price when Bayern declined to make his loan move permanent. I look forward to see him in action as he can be a gem of a player.

Ashley is a miser so always on the lookout for this kind of VFM purchases. On paper, these 3 look good signings for sure! Wilson was rumoured to be wanted by some of the top 6 clubs like Chelsea n Spurs last January window but it didn’t materialise. Fraser as well n both are Internationals. Lewis was wanted by Pool before they signed the Greek defender instead.

Spring Moderator September 8, 2020 Author Share September 8, 2020 27 minutes ago, Jamesc said: Yah lah Norwich wanted to carrot Pool but cannot carrot Newcastle. There are conflicting reports on this. Reports say Pool offered 10mil but Norwich wanted 20mil . It's quite natural for selling clubs to put high prices and for buying clubs to put low prices and normally they meet in the middle or thereabouts which was the case here with the final price at 13.5mil. I think Pool nvr counter offered n went to buy Tsimikas instead. This leads me to wonder whether Lewis was actually Pool's first choice target? I don't believe Pool want to save few mil n miss out on their first choice LB if indeed Lewis was the first choice. Top 6 teams in particular will always been carrot targets and in fact EPL teams as well when selling clubs are from the continent. The advantage of Lewis is that he has played EPL before so settling in is easier unlike Tsimikas, time will tell whether Pool made the right call on this.

Chelsea made the decision to "be greedy when others are fearful" (Warren Buffett famous quote) and this more or less sparked the other clubs to realise that if u r slow, the better players would hv been snapped up. There is no right nor wrong in each club's transfer policy. Pool n Spurs are more prudent and Arsenal to a certain extent as well. They feel it's unwise to spend in this pandemic era. Chelsea, City and likely United as well are more willing to spend. They say u can't always buys success as evident that petro-dollars failed to win City nor PSG the UCL with Chelsea the exception. Football doesn't always make business sense but then again u also don't want to bankrupt your club with over spending which was what happened to Leeds years back. Can't wait for season to start so we shall hv less talk as all the above are opinions and theories only n hv more action instead!

I believe Everton would not be able to attract James if Ancelotti was not the Mgr. Alot of incoming players have mentioned how impt the Mgr is. Klopp n Pep are well known Mgrs who are able to attract the best players. Surprisingly, Lampard being a rookie Mgr was also mentioned by Werner, Chilwell and Havertz as being one of the main reasons for them signing on but maybe they just trying to curry flavour him i don't know haha 1

I agree even on TV there is a difference when u hear the Kop in full voice or the Chelsea fans shouting "fxxx off Mourinho" at the Bridge or the Spurs fans singing "When the Spurs come marching in" at the Lane. Despite that, I've subscribed as the action shld be enough to placate the lack of atmosphere and anyway, there is talk of fans being allowed back soon.
