actually why you need a second hp number hah ?

izzit for the phone that you put on silent mode that is kept with the tyre changing kit ? [sly]

Moons ago one of my number is under corporate plan, so dirt cheap during that era. And back then during one of those PC fair, saw one telco giving out free golden numbers but must signed up a line with them, so ended up with two hp number for a short period lo. 😅 But i find usually those recycle nice numbers high chance the number was previously used by some sales agent de. So sometimes if the number is too nice also might not be a good thing. Lol.

anyway from my experience with numbers Singtel the most Ex.. M1 the most attractive.. got 3 from them in the past.. but now they don show all numbers for purchase liao.. During CNY they will also launch nicer series like "8822" "8833" but now boh liao.. understand telco need to get the series from IDA

likely will port 3 of my Singtel lines over when they end in April.

An update on my switch to Zero1.

I signed up a new plan to port over my number from Giga on Friday, 18 Feb (around 3 pm). Zero1 charged the full month's fees to my credit card.

I received a SMS from Zero1 (Monday, 21 Feb, 3 pm) to say that they are processing my request for porting and it will take "a few" business days. After a few hours, I received a separate SMS to provide instruction on setting up delivery slot for the SIM card for coming Wednesday (23 Feb).

On Wednesday, 23rd Feb, the SIM card arrived per schedule. In the envelop, there is only the SIM card and nothing else. Printed on the SIM card is URL to understand how activation will take place (https://zero1.sg/activate)

Based on the URL, it says activation may take another 3 business days! However, it is normally done 1 business day after SIM card is delivered; usually around midnight.

So, I am hoping they get it done before end of this Friday, failing which Giga will charge me another month of subscription fees on 28 Feb morning.

For those who are looking to port over to Zero1, give yourself a total of 6 business days at least after you placed order to make sure you won't waste another month of subscription fees.

I hope you will find this helpful. I will report back once my plan with Zero1 is successfully activated.

My sim card arrived last Fri, the porting took place on Mon night. So think they usually port on the next business day night.

Any option to port over two lines at one go? How about the post office collection does it work the same way as well?

Thanks for the info. Looks like Zero1 takes longer to port over than others telco? Seems like i should start to switch over to Zero1 end of this month since my current plan deduction is on around 10th every month, also in case any delay from Zero1.

I just ported over to TPG Seniors plan for $5. Sign up online is immediate. The bad thing is must collect personally at one of their shops, well, they do have physical shops. And the shops have weird timing. They closed at 3pm and reopen at 4pm.

Upon collection, activation is within one business day. On the same night, my giga goes out. I was expecting a seamless switch to TPG, but it was not.

No signal from TPG, although I received email saying it's activated. I emailed support and got the usual template response. It was only after I manual forced my phone to search for network; (the first one says TPG network not available), that it registered on the second try. I'm not sure if it's my phone software problem or TPG network is quite "different".

Next, voice call is not working. I know TPG needs VoLTE support on phones. My Redmi (or Xiaomi, Poco) phone support VoLTE, but need to key in special code to activate in the SIM setting. Strangely, the expired giga SIM is showing the VoLTE button, but not on the TPG SIM. I had earlier done the code on giga, that's why it remains. So I had to do again one more time before it shows up on TPG SIM. Just some weird stuff with these phones. My previous LG phone would show VoLTE button all the time.

So I had to fix the network and VoLTE problem.

I had previously used TPG to test the network, which I then cancelled. So, I'm quite happy with the RF coverage.

Since I drive PHV, this is very important as I drive around the island and almost everywhere. I have not had any issues, and now settle done for a peaceful working phone. No more trouble, please. 😁

I remeber last time I had to key ine some code on the dial pad to activate the VOLTE on my Redmi phones..

I got 2 sims in my Phone. Starhub sim only plan ($25 p/m) (60G with un-limited out going calls) and 1 x TPG ($10) - I suggest dun juz use 1 TPG sim. Certain areas - TPG is totally no signal de!!!

Eg : Kent Ridge hospital building. CHIJMES carpark and B1 area. And a few others bah - some members maybe can contribute here haha. So usually I'm on Starhub Sim signal.

So far I had 2 experience of porting line. One from Singtel to Gomo and another from Gomo to Giga. Both of them were done within 2 to 3 business days (from order online to final switching), mostly very smooth. This time with Zero1 it seems to take a little longer, I hope it will get switched over tonight and by tomorrow I will be on their network.

I also got port from Singtel to Gomo before and there is some downtime on Gomo side lo. No signal for almost 1 day, even though they said the line would be activated within certain hours after SIM card delivery. Would become problem if the line is down during office hours.

my friend signed up for Zero1's Starter Plan.

collected his SIM card at Singpost.

Mind to help me check with your friend. How did he select which particular singpost. As to the zero1 webpage there isn't any option to select a particular singpost.  Only "singpost...any outlet" upon signing up. Thanks.

after he signed up, a day or so later received sms from Zero1 to collect SIM card from SingPost, sms has link of the SingPost outlets.

at SingPost, staff will do some processing and handover physical SIM card.

so I guess the SIM cards at SingPost are generic, staff has to program in the unique phone number.
