What are your thoughts ? Are they safe ? And Shopee has Maribank discounts. [:p]

Seems like Youtrip equivalent of credit cards.

I'm not sure, but it seems like you can just open an account, put some money there and get discount at Shopee.

Sort of using it as a short-term banking. [:p]

Are they any hidden charges, I wonder ?

Yeah, you're right. Maribank is a digital bank from Sea Group, parent company of Shopee.

2 other digital banks are GXS (Grab/Singtel) and Trust (StanChart/Fairprice)

I wasn't paying attention.

Bcuz Shopee has a 30% cashback for Maribank, I was curious what's that bank ?

Not keen with any new  start-up digital bank unless they give super high interest rate and even then I will only put up to the SDIC amount.

Remember "Live more, bank less."

Safe of not subjective, personally I can’t be bothered with all this payment or banks. I prefer transitional, established banks

Thats a false form of assurance, my friend.   With or without MAS approval, do your own assessment and diligence

Singapore digital banks, unlike its peers elsewhere, are a disappointment so far. Deposit rates are mediocre and systems untested.

Are our local banks so competitive that new digital bank with low cost model (no brick and mortar) cannot even compete? Or market is just not big enough for so many players.

I will support if they can offer good rates but it will be within insured amount, at least at the beginning.  Just to ensure they have a shot at surviving and giving local banks some competition.

Think the bank is fully ringfenced, plus SDIC, if they offer 5%, I will put $75k with them.

I've use this Maribank mainly to purchase small items from Shopee. Instead of Shopeepay, I'll use this instead.

For now, it has 30% cashback for certain cashback sellers. So If I buy a $10 item, that's up to $3 discount.

It's online app, everything is done online using the app.

Transfer money from your regular bank to your Maribank acct, linked it to your Shopee acct, then you can checkout from Shopee using the Maribank voucher.

There's no min to maintain, no unnecessary charge.

Save a few bucks this way for me. [;)]
