Singapore car brought into Malaysia with engine and chassis number removed.

JPJ insider will find the equivalent car and clone the exact car to Singapore car.

A cloned Honda Ody can be as cheap as RM40k.

then what happens to the expiring SG car?

and why let's say SG cars with 1 yr left not at risk of this?

It is illegally imported used cars.

The vast majority, reportedly up to 95% of cloned vehicles detected in Malaysia are believed to have been smuggled in from Singapore.  Thanks to our COE system.  Closer to 10 years, there is little value.  Syndicates buys these decommissioned cars, forge their papers, and resell them in Malaysia at cheap prices to unsuspecting buyers.

I year depreciation here is $15-20k?

Actually they never enforced the COE 6-mth balance rule previously, even though the system prevents entry of COE expiry less than 6 month away.

I know cos last year I applied for VEP and my car COE balance just fell short of 6 months by about 2 weeks - but I ignored it and just picked the next earliest date allowed by the system, i.e. my declared COE expiry was actually wrong/different from my documentation. Still got approved LOL.

I guess can always tell them you renewing the COE by then.. unless those renewed 5 years and the log card reflect?

Nope, I honestly wouldn't have known for sure I was gonna renew COE at that time.

Though by now I have in fact done so - however their record still shows my car COE old expiry date, i.e. already expired. And I can't find a way to update this record in their system. But VEP still active/valid so ....

I thought for Singapore citizens, it is NRIC that is used across both platforms for verification and validation purpose? They must be same person. ie. Vehicle owner must be TnG account holder.

i tot it was near impossible to remove the sticker?? My friends car got into an accident and the lights cracked (but tag part was intact)   and the WS said cannot be removed as it will crack so I took his "advice" at face value as I went to WS to help making the report........ Hmmmm now I'm confused
