Will atto2 sell in SG?

@13177 If priced correctly by Sime Darby and Vantage Automotive, the Atto 2 will sell in Singapore. It's a numbers guessing game at the moment.

It seems that BYD cars will or should sell in SG, no matter which EV model they are selling. It is now depend on if they want to bring in this car model or not.

Comparison within the BYD line up is interesting.

Specification wise the Atto 2 comes with a 132kW front wheel drive unit that has 290Nm of torque. Sime Darby and Vantage Automotive has to limit the power output to 110kW or less to qualify into the Cat A territory or it's curtains for Atto 2 sales.

AC charging is 7kW, while DC fast charging is 82kW. 

Atto 2 gets an 8.8" driver’s instrument display and a 12.8"infotainment display. Smartphones can be recharged on a 50W wireless charging pad on the center console just below the infotainment screen.

The specs and numbers are a bit disappointing, so comes down to pricing by Sime Darby and Vantage Automotive. Not long to wait and see.

Competition is heating up in the $150k range of Cat A electric vehicles.

If looks are not an issue and looking at it from a rational view point, the Aion Y Plus offers a lot of interior space and features for a price that's hard to beat.  

Would like to see the new Proton eMas7 at below $150k to set the price war in motion here in Singapore. Similar to what Proton did over the causeway and caused BYD, GAC and Chery to cut their prices as well. Like to say that competition is good for the consumer.👍

Surprisingly they bring in this atto2 in SG. So attos2 even cheaper than Dophin? Means attos2 is the lowest range in BYD cars.

If i am looking at exterior look, only atto2 and omoda 5 design is nice. And i find aion Y most ugly. Lol.

I am not sure if the torque figures can be interpreted the way ICE cars are.

Correct me if I am wrong:

Its the actual torque that gets to the wheels that matter. Using most EV's fixed single reduction gear, a motor with 100NM but spinning at 20000 rpm, can give more power/torque to the wheels than a 150NM motor spinning at 12k rpm.

Yeah I know you have to start from 0 rpm but that lower torque, higher max rpm motor can use a different reduction gear ratio so that at 1 rpm vs 1rpm, it still makes more torque at the wheels?

 

I mean, I tested Atto 3 and S5. The S5 felt faster.

Don’t matter that much actually in SG context, in the end in front of you is a red light. Lambo also step and chiong still need to break and stop.

eMas 7 is the size of Atto 3 right?

Ya, the traffic light here is always when green, confirmed will stop at next traffic light which is red.

It does matter when the light is changing from Orange to Red and the car is mere meters from the line.

It is a matter of brake or cheong
