Yes, I didn’t mange to take a screenshot but I can confirm that when I refuel after travelling for 930km, there’s a remaining range of 340km.

so it’s really possible to have a range of more then 1200km in a fuel tank and single charge.

Yes. It’s hybrid, but drives like an EV for the most part of it.

Recently went to see J7. I am considering the Harrier HEV, Sealion 7 RWD and Model Y RWD.

J7 dealer markup is crazy at $221K? The OMV is only $31K. Margin is near $40K?
Can almost buy a Toyota Harrier HEV $43K OMV with discounts.

Am I missing a trick?

Based on Sgcarmart, J7 margin is $31k.

AD Harrier is $261k while PI Harrier is around J7 price.

There are difference in spec btw AD and PI

When you talk to the Borneo SE, the very enterprising ones can give $228K with loans and insurance from them.
Less choice of colors too.

Just checked the PI Harrier.
Definitely cheaper than J7.

Vertex is pricing the J7 out of the market.

Given the complexity of the 4-mode drivetrain (EV, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid and full ICE), good to just pay up and buy some insurance. 

Still find it hard to understand how the Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) works, probably lots of software and perfect dual motor integration with a single speed gearbox and a clutch. 

This may make more sense than Nissan epower system, which uses a small gasoline engine to charge a battery that drives the motor without the need for gearbox and clutch. But is the technology inherently less reliable than a pure ICE (proven) and BEV vehicle?

Yes, agree with you. Hence, buying the j7 now comes with 10 yr warranties with an option to top up 4k for 10 yr servicing. 
 

but Matt Watson from Carwow (can see his review on YouTube) sums it up well: that the J7 is acceptable for daily pt A to pt B driving with less focus on its driving dynamics. One cannot expect the J7 to drive like a Macan with this price point. 
 

Really dependent on one’s own needs. Have a family of 4 and need a fuel efficient car to haul them to sch / work daily. At my age, I just need a ride to comfortably sit for a family of 4 with the best fuel efficiency.

Yes, I heard this on the grapevine too. But the interior of the sealion 6 is quite dated and not sure about the batt size and total range.

Geely has taken fuel efficiency for PHEV to another level with their Galaxy A7 EM-i coming out in Q4 2025. The Galaxy A7 EM-i features a 1.5-litre dedicated hybrid engine (model BHE15-BFN) with a 175 kW P3 electric motor. This EM-i hybrid system achieves a thermal efficiency of 47.26%, and Geely claims a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 7.1 seconds. Claimed combined driving range of over 2,100 km with fuel consumption in battery-depleted mode rated at 2.67 L/100 km. All based on CLTC cycle. 

Pricing is expected between 100,000 and 130,000 yuan (approx. 14,000 to 18,200 USD).

If Geely ever makes a RHD version and Galaxy A7 EM-i makes it way to Singapore, will become popular with PHV and taxi uncles.

Chery (parent company of Jaecoo) has demonstrated its super hybrid battery can last 53 hours in seawater immersion test and still usable in an article here: https://paultan.org/2025/06/24/chery-proves-csh-batterys-durability-by-immersing-in-seawater-for-over-53-hours-tiggo-8-csh-still-works/

Looks like Chery's high voltage battery pack is IP68 rated and looks to be at around 1m depth of water submergence. Which means it can wade through floods for significant period of time. 

Not sure if Jaecoo J7 PHEV has a similar IP68 high voltage battery pack. Will send an email to the AD and report back.
