There’s a reward from vertex for Omoda/Jaecoo drivers that leave a review on SGCM. Slight discount charging rate.

Congrats to Chery / Vertex Auto for record sales in 2025! They are now No.16 in the sales chart and have done quite well in the last two years. See table below.

image.thumb.png.194b0fd80ca95300889afce80b885550.png

With 716 new registrations out of 52,678 last year - Chery/Vertex has captured 1.36% of the market in 2025 and making to No.16 position. The top makes up 94.5% of new car sales in 2025. Chery is doing better than some of the established players such as Volkswagen, Subaru and Volo.

Chery needs to bring out some more models to expand the product range and offer more choices and entice new buyers. The Exeed (or Exlantix in the international markets) ET REEV model covering the premium brand is a hole that need to be filled out. Even the iCaur V27 mid sized PHEV SUV is another option.

Budget 2026 by Singapore government has made the PARF rebate fallacy a reality. A 90% reduction in the scrap value of a new ICE ride going forward. Vertex Auto needs to think about bring in more BEV rides to balance the risk.

If I were vertex, I will just focus on BEV. The J7 is the hardest hit from Budget 2026.

Looks like Vertex Auto is addicted to the hybrid bandwagon. They're going to launch the J8 PHEV soon - see pic below from SG Car Mart.

Wondering how well the J8 is going to sell?

They probably gonna pursue with the j8, but the price must be super attractive. All j7 cars now will have more scrap value then j8, think about that…

Cherry is busy debuting a new feature called Super Intelligent Valet Parking (SIVP) starting with the Jaecoo J7 in Indonesia, another Right Hand Drive (RHD) like Singapore. The J7 will drive and park on its own while you go shopping, rush to a work meeting, etc. You can monitor the progress via the app. To do this the J7 is equipped with a total of 27 sensors and cameras in all directions. This include a 128-channel LIDAR and millimeter-wave radars that can detect objects up to 280m ahead and 200m to the sides. All the collected data is processed by an Intelligent Driving Domain Controller (IDDC).

All the sensors on the J7 can’t do this alone, so the ride has to communicate to the building's ‘Car-to-X’ communication network, which is why the carpark has to be mapped in advance. So it's going to be site specific.

Apparently SIVP will have two functions.

  • (1) smart parking means you can leave the car and let it find a vacant parking spot on its own;
  • (2) smart summon gets the car to come to you from its parking spot.

The SIVP enabled ride can drive across multiple levels in a MSC to park or respond to your summon.

The wonders of modern technology and a cool feature to have here in busy Singapore. Should also be made available on the J8 PHEV.

Our authorities are very touchy with this sort of unfettered self-driving features. If the car hit another car then how? More headache to work out liability issues.

Actually, what is the exact law now?

If the car has self parking, must the driver still sit in there to prepare e-brake? I assume so. As in, you cannot get out of the car and stand at the side or walk away while the car self parks?

I googled that for Singapore:-

"This is known as Automated Valet Parking (AVP).

There are Chinese EVs already equipped AVP feature, like some models of Aion, Tesla, BYD, XPeng, Singapore does not currently permit you to leave the vehicle and have it drive itself around a public car park unsupervised.

The reasons include:

There is no regulatory framework for general consumer AVP in public car parks.

Public car parks are not equipped with the infrastructure used by some AVP systems overseas.

Liability and safety rules are still evolving.

Is self-parking allowed?

Yes, provided the car is performing a parking manoeuvre and the driver remains responsible in accordance with the system's design.

Examples include:

automatic parallel parking,

automatic perpendicular parking,

remote parking into a nearby space (if the manufacturer offers it and it complies with local regulations).

These are considered driver-assistance features rather than fully autonomous driving.

That's why Singapore Govt always have sandbox.  Unlike China.

Before it is allowed, a clear framework has to be set up.

The nicer way to put it is Risk Averse (which is typical of Civil Servants).

Currently, only with driver inside is allowed.

I learned from Tesla sales person that besides parking (parelell or reverse with driver in the car) the most the G allowed is to use the app to summon the car from a tight parking space, move it forward enough so the driver could get in to take over. They do not approve for the car to move from its parking space and self-drive to a sheltered pickup point for e.g.; even if the car is capable of doing so. The rule can't be set in stone, certainly will evolve with time.

I wonder if the Tesla salesperson is talking C.

If the car while moving forward, lunga a kid who ran across suddenly. Driver sure to blame.

That's correct as it is under driver's control.

Where got talking C?

Of course driver is to blame lah. He is still in control of the car.

What is not allowed is for the car to travel unsupervised, even if short distance.

The part where the gahmen allows it.

Is it written or stated anywhere in the regulations? Or just silent. Or treated like the old 377A.

The fact that it's been allowed since previous gen 7 Series from more than 10 years ago shows that they are clearly ok with it.
