Leonknapp Clutched March 7, 2006 Author Share March 7, 2006 actually dont need to go through so many steps. Just use Fusso 7 after washing and drying ur car as its a sealant with paint cleaning abilities. Then let it cure for 6 hours then apply authentic premium (gold coloured container). confirm wet look! Jemjem 1st Gear March 8, 2006 Share March 8, 2006 Yupz. Me have not redo my detailing. Have been spending hours DIY spray my brake callipers. Next project is to DIY my front grill. :p Guess will have to get the clay bar first. By the way, cos my car is black, I notice that after applying the wax, the car tends to have "spots" very easily hen parking under rain and shine. Though the spots can be wipe off, but i have to say that my car looks dirtier compared to when i used Zymol. Guess I will jus continue using til i finish the whole can of wax b4 i switch to the carnuba turtle wax for a trial. jemjem
Lonewolf Neutral Newbie March 9, 2006 Share March 9, 2006 Hi Lonewolf, I think u r quite familiar with Soft99 product. *blush* *shy* everything I know about Soft99, I learn from this thread. So try to be patient and read through all the 700+ replies here. A good tip would be to copy and paste the useful reply. I'm not too sure about the Soft 99 Metallic SoftWax that you are talking about. But b+c sounds ok to me. Actually that was how I'm planning to do my grooming too. I guess if its has been recommended to you then it should be OK too. I'm using Klasse for my paint preparation after claybarring.
Marcostan 4th Gear March 9, 2006 Share March 9, 2006 Brother LONEWOLF, Klasse is good product, after AIO & few layers of KSG, you can try the Soft99 Carnauba wax (Gold or Silver also can). It really make your ride very very wet wet. But, after Carnauba u cannot layering KSG MarcosTan
Eljay Neutral Newbie March 9, 2006 Share March 9, 2006 may i know how to use the claybar?
Marcostan 4th Gear March 9, 2006 Share March 9, 2006 Using clay is very easy, but you must follow the instructions. Use clay incorrectly and you will create a mess or scuff the surface of your paint. Before using detailing clay, you must thoroughly clean and dry your car to remove any loose dirt. Direct sunlight should not fall on your car's surface, and it's best if the work area is relatively cool to prevent rapid evaporation of the clay lubricant. To use the clay bar, you spray a lubricant on a small area of your car and rub the clay back and forth with light to medium pressure. If the lubricant begins to dry, you'll need to spray more. Clay is fairly sticky and cannot be used dry. Try using clay dry and you'll make a big mess and scuff your paint. After a few passes with the clay, rub your hand over the area you cleaned to check for areas missed. You should feel a distinct difference between the areas you have clayed and the areas you have not clayed. Keep rubbing until all contamination bumps are gone. Finally, wipe the clay residue off with a soft microfiber towel, and buff to a nice luster. Just like waxing, work in small areas. When your clay is flattened into a nice wafer, you spray both the clay and the paint with clay lubricant and rub the surface lightly with the clay. Three or four passes over an area is normally enough to do the job. An alternative to spray detailing lubricant is good old soapy water. Be sure to rinse your wash mitt thoroughly and use a fresh bucket of soapy water, not what's left over from washing. Check the clay bar frequently for hard particles. When found, pick them off. Make it a habit to occasionally knead and reform the bar so that a fresh portion of the bar contacts your car's paint. If you drop your bar of clay on the ground, it's history. Toss it out. Don't take any chances, discard the clay bar if it becomes impregnated with grit. Read the manufacturers' directions for the number of uses of their clay bar. Do not overuse a clay bar. Clay isn't just for paint. You can use detailing clay on any smooth, hard surface, including glass and chrome. Do not use clay on clear plastic, such as headlight lenses. When I can no longer remold clay to get a clean surface, I retire it for use on my windows. The dirty clay will not harm glass, and it's amazing how much dirt film clay can remove from your exterior glass windows. I also use my old clay to clean wheels. Clay will safely remove stubborn, embedded brake dust, tar and road film from all factory wheels. Clay is not recommended on wheels that do not have a factory clearcoat or powder coat finish. HERE ARE MOST QUESTION THAT PPL ASK : Q1. I dropped my clay on the ground. Can I still use it? A1. The safe answer is no. Clay will pick up small particles of grit from the ground that will scratch your paint. Q4. Is it better to use soapy water or a spray lubricant? A4. Both work equally well. If you want to do the job fast, use a bucket of soapy water. If you want to work inside or do a thorough job, use a spray lubricant. With a spray lubricant you can wipe down each panel as you go and feel for areas you missed. Q5. How do I store my clay? A5. If your clay did not come with a re-usable plastic container, store it in a plastic Ziploc bag. Q6. Will clay remove my wax? A6. In most cases, clay will "scrub off" wax protection. Some paint sealants are hard enough to withstand being cleaned with clay, but most are not. Lonewolf Neutral Newbie March 10, 2006 Share March 10, 2006 Brother LONEWOLF, Klasse is good product, after AIO & few layers of KSG, you can try the Soft99 Carnauba wax (Gold or Silver also can). It really make your ride very very wet wet. But, after Carnauba u cannot layering KSG Yeah. I once tried Fusco 9 mth + Carnauba some months back but the end result was not impressive. Since then I got my hand on the AIO but.... sad to say been procrastinating for a few months liao so I resolved to give my car the full treatment this weekend. My intention is to layer the wax maybe once a while and repeat the treatment maybe every 4-6 months depending on the condition. Hope I get better result this time. Lonewolf Neutral Newbie March 10, 2006 Share March 10, 2006 Thanks for the article, bro. I have to say that I have no experience with claybar though I read a number of 'how to' guides (including a very good one right here in MCF). But I noticed that there are some subtle differences (discrepancies ) in these articles. #1 Some say to dry the car before claying. Some say dun need to dry the car. I was thinking, since you will be using QD or some soappy water during the process, why dry the car?? #2 Some say to wash the car again after claying. Some say just wipped dry will do. Personally I am more inclined to claying without drying and washing after claying but I suppose with many things in life, I probably just need to try and see which works better for me. Any more inuput from you bro??
Marcostan 4th Gear March 10, 2006 Share March 10, 2006 Brother, 1.No matter what product u using, they all can give u super result. The only thing is u need to do a good preparation for the paint work before u apply wax, sealant....etc. wash => clay => wash => after these is the process of your products. 2.The other important is u need to apply the products in the right way. Always in thin thin layer, ppl always like to apply thick, thick layer of wax, sealant...etc. They think, they see the whole car is covered by white layer of product then they happy. Actually, this is just waste of product and also make them more difficult to buff. 3.Differ product hv their own character, we need to try by ourself, the instruction may tell u to let it set for .....minutes or hours, but sometimes due to our weather condition, these instruction may not be apply. So, we need to try a. as the instruction b. do not wait just wipe on wipe off. Sooner or later u can master this product. Just my 2 cents, MarcosTan

Muths66 Neutral Newbie March 13, 2006 Share March 13, 2006 Fusso 12 mth wat is the step? (1)i apply 1 panel and then wipe off straight away? (2)i apply the whole car then wipe off? I hear ppl saying let it cure for 12 hr mean i wipe off and let it cure for 12 hr then apply wax is it?
Lonewolf Neutral Newbie March 14, 2006 Share March 14, 2006 Bro, nobody ever says we are going to do all the things on a weekly or even a monthly basis. I gave my ride the full grooming treatment over the weekend. The last time I did the sealant/wax thing was 4-5 months ago. And just because you clean your car 2-3 times a week, doesn't mean your car will forever be shinny and swirl-free. The thing you need to understand is the purpose of each steps we have talked about. And really what you need to buy depends on what you wanna do with your car.
Lonewolf Neutral Newbie March 14, 2006 Share March 14, 2006 I hear ppl saying let it cure for 12 hr mean i wipe off and let it cure for 12 hr then apply wax is it? I never used Fusso 12 months before so I got no comments on the application method. But yes when we talked about curing, that exactly what we mean. Let the sealant bond with the clearcoat before applying the wax.
Muths66 Neutral Newbie March 14, 2006 Share March 14, 2006 What happen if i cure finish going to wax my car but very dust how? Just use water rinse over or shampoo again?
Lonewolf Neutral Newbie March 17, 2006 Share March 17, 2006 Depends on how dusty it is and whether you subject your car to road grine. The last time I did it, I left the car in the MSCP overnight and did not use the car. Of cos there was still some surface dust. So when I was ready to wax, I just used water to wipe it off. The general idea is to have a clean surface before you wax, else you would just be rubbing the dust/dirt in when you waxed. So if it was very dirty, I would probably shampoo it again. Else water rinse may be enough. ↡ Advertisement
