Heng_heng Neutral Newbie September 14, 2004 Share September 14, 2004 Same here, I chose Optra also because of the comfort and silent drive. As for FC, it will still be better than my previous Matrix which drinks fuel like water!! Also, part of the reason is that there's not many chervolet on the road but not any more. MORE & MORE can be seen on the road.
Sotong_kia Neutral Newbie September 14, 2004 Share September 14, 2004 Seen 1 Optra involved in accident last week, also minor dent, but not the Jap car. Ha Ha. Life protection is more important. Care to describe more on the accident, how it occurred, which jap car it had intimate connections with, which damaged what ?
Silver_blade Turbocharged September 14, 2004 Share September 14, 2004 ...most Jap car don't need to repair after accident.....the body cannot withstand the impact thus need to scrap even involved in minor accident.... Seen 1 Optra involved in accident last week, also minor dent, but not the Jap car.... It actually depend on how the 2 cars collided and which part of the car is hit. Modern cars, unlike the those made in the 80's (which are hard & strong like a tank), are made to crumple in most parts (except the side, roof and firewall) during impact. That's to absorb the impact and to reduce the amount of shock getting to the driver and passengers. I have seen a Merc S-class suffered more damages than a toyota camry. Corsasg Neutral Newbie September 14, 2004 Share September 14, 2004 'but u wont hear of a toyota doing tat' Search the toyota forum and read abt the toyota that came out of showroom brand new, travelled a short distance and then kaput! BM towed it back and the owner (I remembered as ANTZ) got compensation of abt $1500 for all the inconveniences and trauma sufferred). That happened abt 15 mths back or so. Silver_blade Turbocharged September 14, 2004 Share September 14, 2004 That's probably a one off, or really rare cases.
Botak Neutral Newbie September 14, 2004 Share September 14, 2004 How you know is it a rare case? Maybe they have coverup most of the problems!
Silver_blade Turbocharged September 15, 2004 Share September 15, 2004 I can only guess, since I have never owned one, that's a rare case. If toyota is really that bad, it wouldn't have been voted one of the most realiable brand in JD Power (2000-2003).
Sotong_kia Neutral Newbie September 15, 2004 Share September 15, 2004 I read a US report. Top 3 brands in consumer survey in 2003 : Toyota, Hyundai, Honda. And they quoted number of complaints within 9 weeks (I think) per 100 or per 1000 vehicles sold. Basically, the number has removed the factor of volume. And the number I remember is very close. Something like Toyota - 420+, Hyundai - 440+ and Honda is 440+. Difference is like only 5%.
