Why Lancer become so cheap in such a short time ?

wow...saw today zaobao, lancer now cost only 62K now.....9 months ago when i test drove the car, it cost about 78K.....some more now got better package + rebate....

 

seems like lancer now the cheapest jap sedan now (cheaper then Thai made Altis and City, almost same price as Kia/Hyundai sedan) quite a steal, should expect to see more lancer replace the current overcrowded Matrix and Altis ?

 

i should have wait for 1 more year before i bought my car......

62K now? is that price for the basic manual?..... but i guess IMHO,the price reduction is due to MM having financial troubles and C&C wants to change it's strategy to attract people to get Mitsubishi cars by pricing them cheap....n not to mention the increase in COE quota

you have to look at the configuration of the car. The 62k lancer comes with only 1 airbag. If you take the cvt auto lancer with 2 airbags, it's $71k, more expensive than altis.

they make it cheap by taking things out. no big deal, kia and hyundai have been doing that for ages..

Mitsubishi is in the red and may go bankrupt soon. They have only up till April next year to make money, or face impending doom. So that's why they have to price their cars aggressively to increase revenue. Revenue= price x quantity. So if quantity can increase alot by lowering the price a little, the eventual revenue will increase, and ultimately that is what Mitsubishi wants!

demand for cars cos' expectation of cheaper COE in future

it might be a good thing after Mitsubishi close down. There won't be any further revision / facelift after that and my car will always be the 'latest' version

Can anyone tell me why mitsubishi going bankrupt? I thought they doing quite well...

 

anyway maybe other car companies like Subaru will buy over Mitsubishi and merge..

then will rule the WRC!!

 

Then Evo X, will be called Subaru Evo X.
