Jiayong 3rd Gear November 7, 2004 Share November 7, 2004 Was waiting for my mom just now when i just decided to make better use of my time and check on the water reservoir(becos i noticed the temp abit higher than normal)....and horrors of horrors!! it had very little water left... I quickly topped it up.(engine was running) Then when i started moving i noticed it shoot up to almost the red zone!!! wah..i have never seen my temp meter do a redline before!!! I then stopped moving and let it run for awhile...and the needle went down(but still higher than normal). then later on when i reached my destination and came to a full stop..it went up again for awhile before coming down... What should i do guys? ↡ Advertisement
Burpmonster Neutral Newbie November 7, 2004 Share November 7, 2004 I experienced it b4......could be due to your raditator kanna severe leakage.....better send for checking asap....remember to check water level b4 moving off!!!.......
Luckcent 4th Gear November 7, 2004 Share November 7, 2004 it could be engine block leaking ( the top where the valves are), so you cant see the leak.

Sky8807 1st Gear November 7, 2004 Share November 7, 2004 Yep, Agree with U, probably the top gasket leaks and allow the combustion hot air to go into the cooling system. thus the high temp whenever the engine run at speed.
Unknown_G7 Neutral Newbie November 7, 2004 Share November 7, 2004 You should bring your car to let your mech check.
Silver_blade Turbocharged November 7, 2004 Share November 7, 2004 Don't panic. Check if the coolant's empty. If yes, check for leakage in the hose, cap, etc. If answer to above is 'no'. Then check if the fan is running after the engine is left idling for a short while. It is usually these 2 thing which causes heating problems. The other would be the temp sensor or the themostat. One very important think to note is never drive when the engine temp is very high. It could lead to a blown gasket and the engine may have to be overhaul. Luckcent 4th Gear November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 engine block leaking...the water wouldnt drip onto the floor? no, if the gasket leaks then you cant see the water leaking but there will be telling marks.

Soya Supersonic November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 means coolant leaked thru worn gaskets into the oil.
Jiayong 3rd Gear November 8, 2004 Author Share November 8, 2004 engine oil? funny that u mention milky brown..the water in the reservior seems to be a little milky brown
Luckcent 4th Gear November 8, 2004 Share November 8, 2004 engine oil? funny that u mention milky brown..the water in the reservior seems to be a little milky brown ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- water in the reservoir is brown is because the radiator is rusting. Flush it with the engine running and then renew with coolant will solve this. Also change the radiator cap if there is one cos this may also cause leakage. ↡ Advertisement
