Depends on your engine condition. If your engine has been taken care of and didn't consume any engine oil then 30wt oil shouldn't be a problem. fyi i have been using 20wt oil for my 7 1/2yr old Honda for the last 5yr, now still using 0w20 oil.

I switched to 0-30 since i bought my ka 1.5 years ago. At that time, it is already 5 yr old. D previous owner always service @ AD. So, they used 40wt oil. On NSH, i could only achieved 120km/h. After i switched 2 0-30, i could hit 150km/e wif ease.

My ka is closed 2 7 yrs Nissan Sunny.

wow thanks for the info. To think that you are still using the 20 ratings is really amazing. I have been taking care of my engines with regular servicing but had hardly check if the engine is "consuming" oil. Have been using 40 ratings for the last 3 servicing and was really tempted to change to 30 ratings.

Neutral Newbie

Hi bros,

My altis's 40k servicing coming up and i wanted to switch from toyota's mineral oil to a fully syn, either 5w30 or 10w40.

Any suggestions which 1 should i use?

And anybody can recommend where to get it from? Thanks

Roughness is quite subjective, you may try other brand like Mobil or Redline see if it's better for your engine. Normally thicker oil will only dampen the noise level, it will not smoothen the engine.

I've the same though too. Also depend on car made too. Some cars sound proofing is very good, sonoise level between W30 and W40, no different to the owners/drivers.

120 kmh for all cars should not be a problem.

How come u cannot hit 120 kmh ?

Before you jump into anything, please make sure that you are getting the right grade of Amsoil.

The kind that MCF is selling is the ASL grade. 25,000 miles oil change.

There is a cheaper kind, the XL grade . That is only 7,500 miles oil change. MCF is not selling that.

I do not think that anyone selling cheaper than MCF for the moment.

Yucksshocked.gif Wat I just got from MCF is not the ASL grade cos it only mentioned for up to 15,000 miles oil change.
