It's a normal process of the auto choke. Once it reads the temp warm enough, it will drop until it sud b about 800-900rpm.

On a cold engine will b a little longer than a hot engine.

U can check your owner's handbook if it indicates what is your correct idle rpm. If not there call the agent's tech dept for help.

Remember auto & manual cars might have different idle speeds & reading should be taken with all accessories off & engine fully warmed up.

Too low idle cud b bad for the engine.

When the Jazz engine is warm up don't worry about the idle RPM at 600/800 thats how the stock Jazz are make, no vibration will be felt during idle too. Perhaps thats why the Fit and Jazz are so FC friendly. [;)]

Hi there, no worries. It is perfectly normal. The ECU is programmed to warm up the engine faster at around 1500rpm at cold start. That is why, the engine is most inefficient and uses more fuel when cold. However, it should settle down to 800rpm when optimum operating temperature is attained.

For fuel injected cars, U should be able to move off about 10 seconds after startup.

This way it warms up even faster but do not rev the engine yet though. Engine wear and tear is at its highest at startup.

Use a good engine oil and enjoy your drive!

Seems abit low. [nod] Maybe u can increase it abit & find a range between 800 to 950 without vibrations.

If your car is more than 3 years old, vibrations cud b caused by worn engine mounts.

Mine is auto, so I engage "D", put in handbrake with front wheels against the kerb & adjust till less vibrations.

Remember to test with all accessories on as that's how it will b when u actually driving. [laugh]

If u not sure how to do, don't try as u might cause car to lurch forward causing some injuries/damage. [:p]

during cold starting, the engine idling speed will be higher. it is to warm up the engine to optimum operating temperature.

dun worry mate, it is normal. in fact, new cars dun need to warm up at all. as long as u move off and the temperature rises to operating temperature, its ok. [thumbsup]

if u still dun feel so secure, lemme tell something.

my dad's previous car, a nissan cefiro year 99, engine everything in good condition.

morning cold starting ideling speed up to 1800rpm, after awhile or when i move off, idling drop back to 800rpm [thumbsup]
