Ahdi Neutral Newbie March 23, 2005 Share March 23, 2005 My Dad's 2002 E200ML is facing big problem. His aircon starts to be not cold last thurs..send it to C&C last friday and they suspected the air con coil problem....negotiated wif the SA and they change the coil under warranty, which warranty has been over le......they oso discover the compressor to be faulty. the car came out of C&C only Yesterday with the coil change, as they have tot ake out the dashboard wadever. The problem has not been solve so now the problem suspected is the fault of the compressor. C&C quoted $2300 for the change of the compressor, labour not included, GST not included, and duno how many days it has to be in again...and there my dad would drive my sunny and i has to take a bus...... now my Qn is are there any workshops outside whcih specalise in repair of Mercedes benz other than C&C, which will cost a bomb to my dad? ↡ Advertisement
Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear March 23, 2005 Share March 23, 2005 They should give a better price as it's barely out of warranty.
Ahdi Neutral Newbie March 23, 2005 Author Share March 23, 2005 ya lo..car registered on 6 feb2002 warranty over for 1 mth... b4 warranty over air con got a bit of problem liaoz le... sighz.....
Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear March 23, 2005 Share March 23, 2005 Just go back and reason with them. 1 month is really bad if they don't offer something. My Cefiro also had some minor probs right after warranty - TC went ahead with free labour and parts discounted. I don't see C&C can offer anything less. Alky 2nd Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 Hi Ahdi, I encountered same problem with my car last week. It's just the fuse. Get the workshop to check that also. Hope it helps and hope its not too late.

Super4 Clutched March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 (edited) Try going to RiverView @ AMK... I'm bringing my dad to service his Merc E200 Kompressor there also. It's his first time doing servicing outside of C&C. Edited March 24, 2005 by Super4
Mivec9 1st Gear March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 how's charges at riverview??
Super4 Clutched March 24, 2005 Share March 24, 2005 Definitely cheaper than going back to agent... Say if i'm going for 20k servicing, it will probably cost 100plus thereabouts...(depending on what type of engine oil, me using mobil 1 10w-50) But of course you can bring your own oil, plugs, filters etc to offset the servicing package price.. Talk to Vincent, he will give you the cost breakdown before working on ur car...
Ahdi Neutral Newbie March 25, 2005 Author Share March 25, 2005 (edited) jurong west ne... anyway got the compressor change..bill added up to $2600. 10% discount from C&C onli.....labout wadever all inclusive...WTF but now the problem is..the engine seems to vibrate more than b4 when idling, meaning brake + gear at D. Edited March 25, 2005 by Ahdi
Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear March 25, 2005 Share March 25, 2005 AC Compressor taxes the engine. They should tune the engine after such a major change. Get them to adjust the engine idling for free.
Ahdi Neutral Newbie March 25, 2005 Author Share March 25, 2005 WTF..i believe they din do it properly...cos that day after they change the coil b4 changeing the sompressor..the eninge is vibrating le..but after which they change the compressor, the vibrating is still there....i doubt they did any tuning after the compressor change... WAD is C&C doin nowadays...find that their services are getting from bad to worse... many ppl actually switch from merc to other cars like beemer or volvo...... Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear March 26, 2005 Share March 26, 2005 (edited) And many more switching back from Beemers after electronic bugs bit them ala i-Drive etc. One of my friend was exasperated by the amount of time his beemer spends in the workshop, but he still swears by it as he loves the drive. Let's not over generalize. These are all excellent cars and a class above others. Good thing about them is there is no lack of competent mechanics with Star diagnostics to service Mercs. I using them for several years already without complaint. Honest work. Just see the foreman & ask him to diagnose & quote price straightaway. If want, do, if not try somewhere else. no problem with them. They very easy going type. ↡ Advertisement
