Ahleon Neutral Newbie January 8, 2003 Share January 8, 2003 Hi all volvo bros, Me posting from Volvo service center. There is some soft rattleling sound coming from my front passenger seat. What the service consultant told me was that this is normal(sound comes from the whiplash protection system)? Any bros to help clarify this? Does your Brick has this problem? ↡ Advertisement

Assassin Clutched January 8, 2003 Share January 8, 2003 Hi Ahleon, How many car companies want to sell a car with a soft rattling sound coming from the front passenger seat ? If this is intermittent, it could be a variety of things, for example: - seat belt buckle caught and knocking against the door - something dropped down the side of the seat and is knocking against the rails Just my S$0.02 Cheers

Fastforward Neutral Newbie January 8, 2003 Share January 8, 2003 Hi all volvo bros, Me posting from Volvo service center. There is some soft rattleling sound coming from my front passenger seat. What the service consultant told me was that this is normal(sound comes from the whiplash protection system)? Any bros to help clarify this? Does your Brick has this problem? Mate I got the same problem, up to now cannot pin point. No passenger - got sound Got passenger - little or no sound. I don't believe it's the whiplash protection system as when I had my car, this sound was not there. In any case, I am also sending it in again. Does it sound like it's coming from the door? I think you are right and it's coming from the bottom of the seat. Let me know if you fix this as I have been dying to find out this rattle. I have a S80T6
Ahleon Neutral Newbie January 8, 2003 Author Share January 8, 2003 Yo...bro, Will keep u inform if i solved the damned rattling sound. I dun think that its from the door, sound more like from the bottom of the seat. Funny thing is that when it rattles and i push *real..real* lightly on the side of the seat, the sound went off but when i release my hand it came back. Got the service pple to grease the hinges at the bottom. Now currently monitoring. cheerz....
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie January 8, 2003 Share January 8, 2003 Hi Bro, It could be something behind the glovebox too, the previous 850/70 series are notorious for rattles and that is one area of concern. Other possible reasons could be the wiring harness holders below the seats, try tying them up with more cable ties. I had a S70T5, if you ask SM people about a light frost green S70T5 that is beng-a-lized, they'll know SCP4823X, de-reg and exported liao.
Ahleon Neutral Newbie January 9, 2003 Author Share January 9, 2003 Yo bro... Will check on the wiring harness. Where ur brick exported to? U still driving it now? Cheerz
Soya Supersonic January 9, 2003 Share January 9, 2003 ...."When there is a front passenger = no sound. When i alone = got sound. When mechanic in back seat = no sound. Went in this morning, till now no sound.".... Hmmm...a case of voices in the head??? haha But seriously, my driver's seat used to have a slight clicking sound each time my back is pushed against the seat during hard acceleration. SM initially tried to pass it off as normal but i insisted they do something abt it. Apparently, it was some clip which was connected to the side airbag that was loose and has been fixed since. Moral of story: bang some tables if u need to coz the service dept gives me the impression that they r trying to siam repairs.

Staloy Neutral Newbie January 16, 2003 Share January 16, 2003 Hi... do u use the auto function for the air con ? If so, try to switch the auo off by doing manual aircon... see if this gets rid of the noise fr the vents... my 0.02 comment. ↡ Advertisement
