  1. What do you eat your Macdonald's French Fries with? Tomato Ketchup or Chilli Sauce?
  2. Any knows where in Singapore can get the Blair's Ultra Death. Or Sudden Death sauce. Any speciality shop selling it? http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/WORLDS-HOTTEST-CHIL...H-/120732905746 Thanks.
  3. What's next? 咸鱼 or salted fish? From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...bal_chilli.html Posted on 25 Apr 2012 First neighbours argued over curry, now it's 'stinky' sambal chilli STOMPer Daniel came across a notice online, apparently posted at a void deck of a block of flats in Punggol. The anonymous note was addressed to neighbours who cooked 'stinky' sambal chilli. The STOMPer also referenced a separate dispute over curry. Said the STOMPer, who came across the photo on facebook posted this morning (Apr 25): "First, it was curry. Now, sambal chilli. "Saw this notice at a void deck of an HDB block at Punggol. "First, there was a conflict between neighbours about the smell of curry, now it's the smell of sambal chilli. "Wonder what happens to our society's tolerance level and wonder whether the family who cooks the sambal chilli would be advised to ensure that their neighbour is not around before they can cook sambal chilli, if this matter is brought for mediation." In August last year, Singaporeans organised a 'Cook A Pot of Curry' event online in response to the outcome of a mediation action when a mainland Chinese family asked a local Indian family to stop cooking curry as they did not like the smell. That separate incident happened over seven years ago, and Minister for Law and Foreign Affairs K. Shanmugam applauded the solidarity of Singaporeans but cautioned them not to be xenophobic. It is not known if the Punggol residents involved in the dispute are local or foreign.
  4. Reproduced here from one of my earlier posts: Long long time ago in the western part of an island there was a tiny kampong. In this kampong there was a famous chilli crab stall which due to it's previous owners' sheer hard work & determination made it the biggest both in terms of size & turnover in the whole island. And this caught the attention of folks from all over the island through word of mouth. The owner was even invited many times to other islands to teach the people how to whip up a nice spicy plate of A-class chilli crab. When there were rumours of several small operators each wanting to also set up chilli crab stalls to grab scraps of the kampong market share, the present owner quickly issued a statement: "My stall sources the best crabs in the whole island-there can be no other juicy crabs that others can get. The point is, there are no way these guys can get good-eating crabs because I myself have tried very hard to get them in the first place. In order for foodies to continue getting their delicious chilli crab, it is important that they continue to support just mine and not other stalls. If they want to try-try other stalls, there will be one day whereby my stall will no longer be viable and that they will not able to get a fix of my A-class chilli crab anymore. I know folks out there are saying that my stall is too dominating and my chilli crab is very expensive but you can be assured of the quality, nevermind there were unconfirmed cases of suspected food poisoning cases traced to my stall, the sales speaks volumes-even when my kampong stall is tucked at a remote corner in the western area where tigers roam, my supporters still flock there to taste my chilli crab. So is this good or bad? You decide. I am also aware that a previous owner mentioned that my few dedicated chief chefs should not work too long but retire to make way for aspiring young ones but I think given that these experienced guys are very difficult to find, I have to respectfully disagree with him on this. There were lately some grouses that I have employed some very young & inexperience managers who may not even know how to serve customers. Although they did not have to go through job interviews and can directly join in any of my departments, I can assure you that they are good people so please give them a chance to prove themselves to serve you better. I just want to send a message across the whole island that there can be only ONE true chilli crab store. No other stall can get the best crabs so if you think there can be another or few more like mine then you are dead wrong. I intend to make my kampong stall the best in the region if not the whole world so please continue to support me and the ones that will be replacing me. Remember there can ONLY BE ONE."
  5. Flung chilli sparks 17-man brawl A fight broke out after a woman threw chilli at a stall-owner. He had asked why she did not ask his permission to take condiments from his stall. -AsiaOne Mon, Feb 07, 2011 AsiaOne SINGAPORE - A woman in her 20s has been accused of starting a 17-man brawl after flinging chilli at a stall-owner. The incident took place at a food outlet beside Boon Lay MRT station on Feb 6, the fourth day of Chinese New Year, at approximately 10.30pm. Chinese newspaper Lianhe Wanbao reported that the woman had taken some chilli from a food stall after ordering a dish from another nearby stall. The stall-owner, who was having dinner nearby, then asked her why she did not ask for permission to take the chilli. This enraged the woman, who flung the chilli at the stall-owner while shouting that the stall-owner could have the chilli back. A quarrel ensued between the woman and the stall-owner, which quickly spread as the stall-owner's companions entered the quarrel, together with the woman's boyfriend. Flung chairs The quarrel degenerated into a fight after the stall-owner allegedly pushed the woman's head with her hands. The woman's boyfriend then retaliated, causing four other men to beat him. One man used a chair as a weapon. The boyfriend's nose was injured and bled profusely. Seeing that her boyfriend was being beaten, the woman then poured a bowl of hot soup over the stall-owner's head. 11 men shouting At this point of time, 11 men appeared and started shouting aggressively. Witnesses alleged that they were summoned by the woman for a gang-fight. The woman's boyfriend was sent to the hospital for treatment. Impolite to take other stall's chilli When interviewed by Lianhe Wanbao, the 38-year-old stall-owner complained that the woman had taken chilli from his stall while ordering food from another stall. He also said that all he wanted to do was remind the woman that it was only polite to ask for permission and did not expect it to degenerate into a fight. He requested that the woman and her boyfriend apologise to him.

A colleague and I were shocked to find a cockroach in our nasi lemak. To be precise it was in the sambal or chilli paste.
