  1. The government has appointed a 13-member committee to look into the public transport fare adjustment formula and the framework for fare adjustments.
  2. To PM Lee or the person assigned to read on behalf of PM, You have taken a bold step to revamp your cabinet. And Singaporeans are being assured that you do listen to our problems. We also hope that you are able to relook into the salaries of the cabinet. Singaporeans feel unjustified towards the amounts of salaries that are being paid and the performance. Having a realistic salary range will keep checks and balances on the real motivations of ministers and potential MPs wanting to serve the people of Singapore, as a Public Servant. Thank you.
  3. As reported on Asiaone forum. http://forums.asiaone.com/showthread.php?t=65092 Apparently, there now exists a Filipino sub-committee inside a Residents’ Committee (RC), presumably to look after the interests of Filipino residents. One wonders if there exists other sub-committees also like Myanmar sub-committee, PRC sub-committee, India sub-committee etc, to look after the interests of the other nationals living in the estate. Indeed, a scan through the various forums showed that Singaporean netizens are questioning such a move. Many are asking how RCs are going to help integrate residents when they have their separate nationality-based sub-committees: Quote: Compassvale Villa RC is only 1 of the 9 RCs in the Punggol Central Constituency, which itself is part of the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC. Punggol Central Constituency: Compassvale Gardens RC Blk 257B Compassvale Rd # 01 – 527 S( 542257 ) Compassvale Green RC Blk 299C Compassvale St # 01 – 124 S( 543299 ) Compassvale Haven RC Blk 250B Compassvale St # 01 – 75 S( 542250 ) Compassvale Lodge RC Blk 291C Compassvale St # 01 – 258 S( 543291 ) Compassvale Plains RC Blk 237 Compassvale Walk # 01 – 538/524 S( 540237 ) Compassvale Southgate RC Blk 201B Compassvale Dr # 01 – 525 S( 542201 ) Compassvale Villa RC Blk 206C Compassvale Lane # 01 – 99 S( 543206 ) Compassvale Vista RC Blk 226A Compassvale Walk # 01 – 305 S( 541226 ) Punggol Grove RC Blk 204A Punggol Field # 01 – 288 S( 821204 ) The MP helming Punggol Central Constituency is none other than Mr Teo Ser Luck, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, as well as Mayor of North East District. A netizen, Bret Goh, posted the following on Mr Teo’s Facebook page: To which Mr Teo replied on his Facebook page: A netizen best summed up the general sentiments on the Internet: At least TSL say "It won't happen"

  6. Just when we are still congratulating ourselves for a job well done for the inaugural YOG & this has to happen. Hope the total costs, which would include the re-printing plus postage/courier services to local & ovesea folks, of rectifying the 45,000 certificates will not exceed S$1m. Else, it will really exceed the previous record of S$388m "Honest Mistake" taxpayer money... No more please.... http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1082993/1/.html YOG committee apologises for error in certificates By Evelyn Choo | Posted: 23 September 2010 1954 hrs SINGAPORE: The organising committee of the Youth Olympic Games (SYOGOC) has admitted to an error in the certificates issued to participants and volunteers. Approximately 45,000 certificates bore sample signatures of the committee chairman and International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge instead of the actual ones. The samples were used as place holders during the design process, and were sent to the printing firm by mistake. The committee says there was an oversight in the checking process and has apologised for the incident. It will be contacting the respective organisations, participants and volunteers to send them the new certificates by December. They can also contact the organising committee at [email protected]. - CNA/fa
  7. The Ministry of Home Affairs has responded to queries from the Workers' Party regarding the Committee of Inquiry's probe into Mas Selamat Kastari's escape from detention. According to the ministry, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng has said that after the inquiry is completed, the public will get a full account of how Mas Selamat escaped and what has been done to tighten security to prevent a repeat of such incident. In a statement to the media, the chairman of the Workers' Party, Sylvia Lim, had asked if the public would be given full information as the committee was convened under the Prisons Act.
