  2. Hello Guys , have anyone of you sell the car thru consignment basis ? I got this deal , buyer interested to buy my car.. but the middleman ( car today ) claims that I will need to do a transfer first name to new owner first , then i get paid 1-2days after the car name transfer.. in all my car buying and selling , even buyer with loan , all full payment is done immediately after transfer name is done ? I found it very fishy.. anyone any enlightment me ?? 1) what is name transfer and this middleman dod not transfer ? 2) they charge super high % commission up to 5% if u want the payment done on the before transfer ! Maybe it their tactics to get instant commission rather from loan and insurance ? 3) there is no confirmation letter or agreement that fund is transfer own witheld by them ( middleman ) ... any member car to share.. Is this a scam ?
  3. Reality is far from expectations for these Stompers who bought items online Sometimes, online shopping can be like a game of Russian roulette. You can hope that you get what you pay for but once in a while, the reality may be far off from your expectations. Unfortunately, two Stompers got way less than they bargained for when they decided to purchase products online via Facebook. Stomper Eve was excited when she was scrolling through Facebook and came across a portable projector that she thought would be the perfect Christmas gift for her son. She clicked on a sponsored ad that appeared on her feed that was posted by a page called Fashion Products. The ad redirected her to a website called yibeibuy.com. "I was surprised that there was an option to pay in cash on delivery so I ordered one for $69 on Tuesday (Dec 11)," she said. "The item came the very next day (Dec 12) and I paid when the delivery arrived. "Although it was meant to be a present, I decided to open it and charge the projector for my son. "It was black like what I had ordered online but when I looked closer it turned out to be a speaker with instructions in Chinese, like the ones you can get at a pasar malam for like $25." Eve told Stomp that she messaged Fashion Products on Facebook and was asked to provide a tracking number and details. However, she said that she was not given any. "They didn't even give me an email confirmation when I placed my order. "The person I was communicating with then said it was their page but not their link when I sent her screenshots taken from Facebook Marketplace."
  4. From my past experience, I thought these two terms above were the same as QP stands for Quota Premium. Calculating the COE rebate should be safe by using any of them. Until recently I came across to a vehicle, where its value of QP Paid is lower than its Quota Premium. Strangely, the COE rebate of this car was calculated base on the Quota Premium (i.e. the higher of the 2 values) instead. I am puzzled. Anyone knows what’s the difference between the 2 values? Thanks in advance.
  5. June 30, 2008 Managers, professionals command higher salaries in '07 JOBS requiring professional and specialised training continued to command higher salaries in 2007, reflecting the premium on skills and responsibilities. Wages also rose with age, especially for jobs at the higher end. But this link was less so for the lower skilled and blue-collared workers whose wages rose slightly with age and peaked early in their 30s. These are some of the key findings of the 'Report on Wages in Singapore, 2007' published by the Ministry of Manpower's Research and Statistics Department. The 210-page report, out on Monday, provides information on salaries of over 300 occupations as well as wage changes and bonuses paid in various industries. It also includes information on the extent to which employers have restructured their wage systems. The report shows that managers received the highest median gross monthly wages at $6,101 in June 2007, followed by professionals at $4,030. The third highest paid were associate professionals and technicians at $2,789, while clerical and sales and service workers were paid close to $2,000. Among blue-collar occupations, production workers were paid more - at $2,110 - than plant and machine operators ($1,780). The lowest paid were the cleaners, labourers and related workers who took home a median gross pay of $968. The report also revealed that: [*]Amid the strong economic performance and tight labour market, total wages rose by a seven-year high of 5.9 per cent during the year, up from 4.5 per cent in 2006. This was a result of a basic wage gain of 4.3 per cent and an increase in bonus payout (also known as annual variable component) from 2.18 months in 2006 to 2.36 months in 2007. [*]Labour productivity contracted by 0.9 per cent, after the previous two years of slowing growth. After adjusting for higher inflation, real total wages rose by 3.8 per cent and real basic wages by 2.2 per cent. Consequently, real wages outpaced productivity growth in 2007 for the third consecutive year. Over a longer period of five years or more, the growth in productivity had kept pace with gains in wages, said the report. [*]As at December, 84 per cent of of the workforce in the private sector was under some form of flexible wage system, up slightly from a year ago but significantly higher than 76 per cent in June 2004. During the year, more private establishments (18 per cent) that employed low wage workers adopted the National Wages Council's recommendation to give more to these workers, compared with 16 per cent a year ago. The report can be downloaded from the Ministry of Manpower's website. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...ory_253138.html

  11. Happy happy joy joy - I think this is a great idea! http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/...-leave-20130121 Some thoughts though, for you all to discuss... Widely expected? Really? I saw a lot of people asking, but NOTHING to suggest that it was widely expected! The timing of the announcement is just nice for the election - so which side of the debate do you think it adds credence to? a) The PAP is doing a good job, and should be "rewarded" by the vote in Punggol East b) The Worker's Party is right, and having them in parliament makes the PAP work "harder" - so you should continue to support the WP Whadda reckon? And do you like this idea? Yay or Nay? In essence, dads get ONE week paid paternity leave in the first 16 weeks after birth, and mum can "give up" one week of her leave for dad on top of that. I think the basic idea is really really good (but still doesn't go far enough)

Dear forummers, appreciate if anyone can advise on above. i have only one phone which i use for work stuff, while my other home biz needs to have a separate line. rather than carry around two phones, i'd rather just slot in the pre-paid sim card for a while, divert all calls to my work phone and take it back out. will that work, and will the home biz callers be able to see the number its diverted to? Thanks
  21. Tuck Yew ah Tuck Yew, pls answer to the question directly and not deviate from it....so what it costs transport operators more, they have sought for many fare increases from PTC and got the approval liao, what you mean by it will cost more??? if it really cost more, it shows that the management from transport operators, PTC, LTA and MOT are incapable, ineffective and inefficient in managing cost and serving the public. Travel concessions for poly students will cost transport operators S$28m (http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1177393/1/.html) SINGAPORE : Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew has said it will cost transport operators an additional S$28 million per year if polytechnic students are given travel concessions. He was replying to a parliamentary question tabled by Nee Soon GRC MP, Lee Bee Hwa. Over the past few years, polytechnic students have been lobbying for travel concessions which their counterparts in junior colleges enjoy. Mr Lui said 10 per cent of the average daily passenger ridership enjoyed student travel concession on trains and buses in 2011. This is about 2 per cent lower than in 2007. He however added that the percentage had actually gone down due to an increase in ridership.

  24. This one from yahoo huh, not me http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/Top-10-Hi...928230.html?x=0 Brent Radcliffe, On Wednesday 19 October 2011, 0:28 SGT You may think that those wishing to suffer extreme public scrutiny while making decisions that affect millions of citizens would demand the big bucks, but when it comes to pay, many world leaders look like chumps compared to the CEOs of many corporations. While most salaries pale in comparison to the likes of Warren Buffett's, some are downright huge when compared to the people a leader may govern. Top 10 Political Leader's Salary by Country (2010): 1. Lee Hsien Loong (Singapore): $2,183,516 2. Donald Tsang (Hong Kong): $513,245 3. Raila Odinga (Kenya): $427,886 4. Barack Obama (United States): $400,000 5. Nicolas Sarkozy (France): $302,435 6. Stephen Harper (Canada): $296,400 7. Mary McAleese (Ireland): $287,900 8. Julia Gillard (Australia): $286,752 9. Angela Merkel (Germany): $283,608 10. Yoshihiko Noda (Japan): $273,676 Salary Compared to GDP What makes a world leader's pay reasonable or outlandish? One way of making this call is by looking at pay compared to a country's GDP per person at purchasing power parity (PPP). Using PPP helps make a better estimate of just how far money goes in a country, since the cost of living will vary from country to country. Comparing each leader's salary (in international dollars) to the IMF's 2010 PPP figures shows how much more a world leader makes compared to an average joe at home. 1. Raila Odinga (Kenya): 255.30 2. Lee Hsien Loong (Singapore): 38.51 3. Donald Tsang (Hong Kong): 11.17 4. Nicolas Sarkozy (France): 8.92 5. Barack Obama (United States): 8.54 6. Yoshihiko Noda (Japan): 8.08 7. Angela Merkel (Germany): 7.86 8. Stephen Harper (Canada): 7.57 9. Mary McAleese (Ireland): 7.29 10. Julia Gillard (Australia): 7.21 What do these numbers mean? Looking at GDP per person doesn't show how a country stacks up in terms of income inequality, a statistic that can measured using the Gini coefficient. Ranking the leaders by their country's income inequality can really show how far out of touch a leader is with those governed. The Gini coefficient changes things up (zero means perfect equality and one perfect inequality). 1. Donald Tsang (Hong Kong): 0.434 2. Raila Odinga (Kenya): 0.425 3. Lee Hsien Loong (Singapore): 0.425 4. Barack Obama (United States): 0.408 5. Julia Gillard (Australia): 0.352 6. Mary McAleese (Ireland): 0.343 7. Nicolas Sarkozy (France): 0.327 8. Stephen Harper (Canada): 0.326 9. Angela Merkel (Germany): 0.283 10. Yoshihiko Noda (Japan): 0.249 Base Salary Vs. Perks When it comes to what a leader is really paid, a distinction must be made between base salary and additional stipends. Leaders may receive free residences or residential stipends, free healthcare, free travel and other perks. They may be permitted expenses that most people would have to pay for out of pocket. Those figures are more difficult to come by, especially in the murky world of political influence. Less scrupulous world leaders may pad their own bank accounts with their own country's money through corruption. "Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI)," first released in 1995, tracks corruption trends in 178 countries. It assigns a rank of 10 to countries deemed clean, and zero to countries considered highly corrupt. Ranking the leaders by how corrupt their countries are, the ranking shifts to the following: 1. Raila Odinga (Kenya): 2.1 2. Nicolas Sarkozy (France): 6.8 3. Barack Obama (United States): 7.1 4. Yoshihiko Noda (Japan): 7.8 5. Angela Merkel (Germany): 7.9 6. Mary McAleese (Ireland): 8 7. Donald Tsang (Hong Kong): 8.4 8. Julia Gillard (Australia): 8.7 9. Stephen Harper (Canada): 8.9 10. Lee Hsien Loong (Singapore): 9.3 Of these countries, only three would not be considered "full democracies" by the "Economist Intelligence Unit's Democracy Index:" Kenya, Hong Kong and Singapore. The Bottom Line What do all of these numbers tell us? Leaders of advanced economies earn very similar salaries to each other, and those countries tend to be less corrupt and more democratic. While Lee Hsien Loong may earn 38 times the average resident of Singapore, his country is considered a good place to do business even if it is not fully democratic. On the other end of the spectrum, Raila Odinga earns an incredible amount more than the people he governs, and presides over a country that Transparency International would consider one of the most corrupt around (ranked 154 out of 178 countries).
