  2. Hur..... , worst place to work in aklso got rating now. Singapore rated at No. 3 aka average niah niah ... Yahoo news: Malaysia scores a ‘5’… as one of the worst places to work in Malaysia joins the list of countries deemed the worst places in the world to work in as it does not guarantee workers' rights, according to a survey by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). In its first-ever Global Rights Index report, compiled from 97 indicators, Malaysia scored 5, joining Cambodia, Bangladesh, China and Nigeria and 19 other countries. A “1” is given to the best countries and “5” for the worst. “Countries with the rating of 5 are the worst countries in the world to work in. While the legislation may spell out certain rights, workers have effectively no access to these rights and are, therefore, exposed to autocratic regimes and unfair labour practices,” said the report released in Berlin. A recent example of alleged violation of workers' rights involved national carrier Malaysia Airlines. MAS took disciplinary action against Mohd Akram Osman, secretary-general of the National Union of Flight Attendants Malaysia (Nufam), and 30 other Nufam members for an “illegal gathering”. The move was criticised by many, including civil society, and other trade unions. They called on MAS to recognise and respect workers’ rights, including the freedom of association and the right to join a union. Meanwhile, 18 countries, including Denmark, Norway and Uruguay, scored a 1. The survey covers violations in 139 countries recorded between April 2013 and March 2014. Neighbouring Singapore scored a 3, meaning that its government and companies regularly interfered in collective labour rights and failed to guarantee important aspects of these rights. more of teh stories, link: https://sg.news.yahoo.com/malaysia-scores-5-one-worst-places-041358079.html Nice to know that MAS said that National Union of Flight Attendants Malaysia (Nufam) meeting considered 'Illegal gathering' ....
  3. I remembered writing a bad review for one of the "trusted merchants" in SGCARMART, but was rejected. The administrator wanted me to show more proof. In that case, for good review, why aren't we require to show more proof? Although merchants may be awarded "trusted merchants" status based on a long list of good reviews, not all merchants can be consistently good, right? Seriously need to take all reviews here with a huge huge pinch of salt. :)

  6. Tyres speed ratings are as follow: N = 140km/h Max P = 150km/h Max Q = 160km/h Max R = 170km/h Max S = 180km/h Max T = 190km/h Max H = 210km/h Max V = 240km/h Max W = 270km/h Max Y = 300km/h Max Like that "H" rating is already good enough what, I am driving a MPV and there is no way I can hit 210km/h, not even if I am driving in north south highway... Stamford tyres carry both H and W ratings for Continental Premium Contact 2, the price difference is about $50-$80 per tyre, wonder who will go for W rating ?
  7. TIRE RATINGS Definition: On the sidewall of every tire is information about tire size, maximum load rating, maximum inflation pressure, tire construction (See Radial Tire) and performance standards. Treadwear is a comparative rating of how long the tire will last compared to other tires. The higher the number, the longer the predicted life of the tread. A tire with a 200 rating should go twice as many miles as one with a 100 rating. Related Terms

  9. Dear fellow MCF'ers I'm wondering where I can find information regarding the oil ratings and how they apply in Singapore, I've trawled through the net looking for answers, simple and clear explanation and description but what I get back is a bunch of convoluted, confusing and very technical information. Can anybody help? what we need is something to simply describe the oil eg. what does the "W" mean on the rating? how does the "W" thing apply to a hot climate like singapore? what is the -20 -30 -40 -50 rating? what does it do and how does it affect the drivability of the car? how do I tell if the oil will last for 5k, 10k or 15k? This is my basic understanding so far, i would love for anyone to correct my mistakes if found thanks ---------- W stands for "winter" that's all I know. 0W means that somehow the car can start at zero degrees Celcius in the winter (which does not apply to singapore) does this mean I can use 30W oil? since singapore is so hot? I think that the "W" rating does not equate to the thickness or thinness of the oil but perhaps the way it coats or sticks to the metal parts. 30W won't stick very well and will just run off. -20 -30 -40 -50 suggest the thickness of the oil. -20 being the thinnest and -50 is the thickest out of that range. -20 will give good FC but since it is too thin will not protect car engine under high stress and load. -50 will best protect the engine at all times. so for best protection can I carefully say that we should get -50 oil, and since it is singapore the weather never gets cold, forget about the "W" bit? forgive my lack of knowledge in this area... nobody has explained the ratings logically to the layman yet. all they say is 0W-40 good, 20W-50 bad... or use brands to say good or bad.
