Motorcycle riding is a sensory experience beyond the exhaust
jeresinex posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Riding a motorcycle is like taking your nose on a wild adventure. You're cruising down the road, expecting to smell nothing except exhaust fumes and perhaps rubbish, when suddenly - bam! - you're hit with the mouthwatering aroma of sizzling char kway teow from a nearby coffeeshop. Heck, you might even catch a whiff of someone's fancy perfume as you zip by. It's like your bike has magical powers, transforming an ordinary ride into a sensory rollercoaster. It's these unexpected olfactory delights that make motorcycling an even more engaging experience than you thought possible. Seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, and yes, even tasting things (yikes) are possible on a motorcycle. (Image: Stephen Kidd, Unsplash) The unexpected scents As you cruise along, you'll encounter an array of unexpected scents that car drivers often miss. I've caught the tantalising smell of roasting coffee, freshly cut grass, and even 'that smell' you get after it rains. These make your journey more engaging and memorable. It's not just about the thrill of the ride - it's about immersing yourself in the world around you, one unexpected whiff at a time. Don't ride while you're hungry – the scent of wok hei will make you feel weak! (Image: Advocator SY, Unsplash) Once, I was riding along an arterial road, on my way home for dinner, when the smell of fast food (McDonald's fries, in particular) hit me. Was there a delivery rider somewhere in front? Did someone have fries in their car and have their windows open? It was a mystery. Surprisingly, you'll also often catch unexpected whiffs of perfume in the wind. These random scents add another layer to the sensory experience of riding. This writer still wonders where the scent of Macs wafted from. (Image: Brett Jordan, Unsplash) Earthy encounters: Navigating the 'fragrance' of manure Of course, not everything smells good. The open-air nature of riding allows you to experience a symphony of scents, including the earthy aroma of manure. While you might wrinkle your nose at first, this pungent smell serves as a reminder that the greenery/landscaping we enjoy requires upkeep in the form of err, plant food. Indeed, it's a stark contrast to the sterile environment of a car, where you'd likely miss these authentic, albeit sometimes unpleasant, fragrances. – Jeremy Main image: Gijs Coolen, Unsplash- 1 comment

Hi All.... I did a air-con flush around july and a few days after that, my air-con seems to be blowing out a kind of funny smell, something alike a herbal/bitter smell. Only at low speed and engine start-up would i get the smell and its only coming out from the front passenger side air vent. Anyone has faced the same situation before? Please advise. Thanks a million!!!!

hi all, i just had my ge6 brake pad changed today. i changed to normal original one, which i bought from a spare part shop in waterloo centre... went to my usual mechanic and asked him to change... it was not that biting for the first few KMs... it is fine now, however, i smell a very bad odour upon getting out of car... is it normal? or is it that my usual mechanic tightened it so tight that pad rubs against the rotor when the car is moving??? pls advise... im noob to this...

Yesterday night , at about 10:30 pm ... I asked my wife to tell the maid to prepare the car washing pail with my new car shampoo (just bought about 3 days ago). Then I went inside to change and didnt hear what my wife told the maid. Once ready , I stepped outside and voila, the bubbly pail was ready for me. As I picked it up I thought .... manz this new car shampoo smells damn good !!! Not thinking anything about it , I carried the pail down go give TarzanBoy a good wash. Hence I carried on my washing with TarzanBoy as per normal .... until my neighbour driving a Hyundai Accent parked about 2 cars away. He came over .... wah brudder , so hardworking ah ?? Then he said, eh wat car shampoo u use ?? I said , this one I just bought dah .... smell nice right ? He looked at me and said ... how come your car shampoo smells like my hair shampoo REJOICE. Then I realised .... My wife told the maid "Prepare the car soap, sir wants to wash car. And sir says to use the new shampoo" My maid looked blur .... "use the new shampoo ??" she asked my wife again. Yes the one sir just bought. On that fateful day , I bought a new car shampoo and a new REJOICE hair shampoo. And she mixed the pail with the REJOICE shampoo. But wifey and me saw the funny side of things. Morale of the story : NEXT TIME MIX IT YOURSELF !!!
