  1. I need some help with some clarification. I've purchased a used Proton Gen 2 1.3M with the COE due on 1 August 2016 for $5500 OMV: $9,221 Original registration date: 1st August 2006 Actual ARF Paid: $10,144. Parf eligibility expiry date: 31 July 2016 Parf rebate amount: $5072 QP paid: $10,803 I need to ask if I were to de register and scrap/export my car on 22 July 2016, will that means I'm able to get back $5072 from the Parf rebate when encash? Will I need to pay LTA approved dealer for the processed of scrapping or exporting my car? And also do depreciation value take parts in the amount I can actually get back from LTA. Cause the seller wrote to me this. Buy: $5500 Min Parf: $5072 Diff: $430/3 months Depreciation lesser than $144/per month. This sounds too good to be true. Owning a car at $144 per month. Please help I need to know the actual cash that I can get back after scrapping/export my car after I de register it. I'm still new to all these. Hope for enlightenment.

  3. Hi all, recently i was talking to a taxi uncle and he told me that though taxi companies protect their drivers, there are also some protection for passengers too. You can refuse to pay for the full fare if : 1. Driver is talking on the phone for more then half the journey. 2. Dangerous driving (speeding and weaving in & out of traffic). These are the 2 that he told me. I am not sure if it is true or how to justify this kinda actions. Just sharing with you guys. If it is wrong pls dun flame me and if it is true, i hope people don't abuse it....haha
  4. I so suay kena knocked by a lorry. After some discussion, owner agree to let me claim third party against him. he admitted he is at fault. I had a witness. I've already traded in my car for a new but will only collect my new car in a few months time. The repair will take at most a week but the claim wil take some time. My question is : What is going to happen to the claim when I terminate my current insurance for my current car upon collecting my new car ? does insurance follow car or owner ? Thanks
  5. Open clarification to Black/Dark Blue Saab93 Driver along North Bridge Road towards Chinatown just outside High Street Centre turning into North Boat Quay which you finally turned into MOS carpark at Clark Quay. I was the driver of the car ahead of you that you blasted and long honked. I have absolutely no idea what you were honking at me for when 1. You failed to notice the obstacle ahead of you before hand 2. Forcing your way into my lane; 3. Failing to cut into my lane as I was ahead of you A) Where you expecting me to jam brake just so you can avoid the digging machine parked ahead of you? B) The left corner of your car was right beside me at the driver's door and you were still aggressively trying to drive me out of my lane while sounding your horn at me. Where you really trying to drive me out to the next lane? Or was it all my imagination? I stopped my car and thought about getting off and clarifying with you, but had second thoughts and drove ahead (too many cases of man on bonnet these days) I drove slowly so that you could drive up beside me and tell me what your intentions were. Instead, you chose to go behind me slowly. I really have no idea what you were up to. I would like to hear your side of the story if you're reading this. Thank you for your time.
  6. With reference to the below report in 16th Jan2007 TODAY's paper. It says that the retail sale of cars are better compared to previous months and last year. But we know that the monthly COE quota is FIXED and only the registration rate is variable or maybe the profit margin by AD is also variable. It does not mean that that particular month with more car registration will signify a greater demand and more people buying cars! In fact when price falls, more people will rush in to lock the car price at the low COE price, eventually pushing up COE price which the AD has to 'absorbe'. Which means when the demand is high, theoretically AD profit margin may be slightly lower? Can anyone with financial background teach me how the hell they can justify such results to 'hoodwink' singaporeans into thinking that the economy is good and more people are willing to buy cars??? I know retail sales can be calculated by the GST contributions from all the retail shop to the gov. How about car sales? Is the report of the 5.9% increase based on car quantity or car GST contribution? SINGAPORE

  8. Hi, Need some advise on whether to go for bidding (for Cat A) or get a guarantee COE (Open Cat) price for new car? What are the likely disadvantages & future paper loss if taking guarantee COE (Open Cat)? Will the dealer give the current bidding Open Cat COE if going for guarantee COE this round bidding. Also trading in current car for the new car and was told by SE that there is a mandatory 3% for admin charges...is that true? How to avoid the 3% charges? Can the car dealer absorb it? Thanks for your replies. Rgds
