By Cara Van Miriah THEY arrived in style but left in shambles. Billed as one of the most glamorous Grand Prix parties, the Stylo Fashion Grand Prix (SFGP) Singapore at the Mercedes-Benz Centre on Friday was wrecked at the end. Things turned ugly at the red carpet when guests waited more than an hour for the event's valet service to pick up their cars. The holdup: Misplaced car keys and missing vehicles. It was supposed to be a simple process: hand your numbered ticket to the valet, and he'll get your car keys and drive the vehicle out of the carpark to the red carpet. Trouble brewed when the valets could not find some of the cars keys kept in a white cabinet at the valet station. In some cases, the matching ticket stubs were tagged to the wrong keys. At 11pm, partygoers then crowded the valet station desperately trying to locate their keys in the cabinet. The valets then separated several sets of ticket stubs and keys from the cabinet and displayed them on the ground so as guests could identify the keys themselves. In a fit of anger, a few guests hurled vulgaries at the valets. One even pushed an event signage to the ground, which was then prominently displayed before the Mercedes-Benz Centre on Alexandra Road. Three hours later - at 1.45am - about 15 guests were still waiting for their cars. A Stylo spokesman estimated that some 100 guests were affected. The event, which ended at 2am, left a sour taste for the glam crowd. http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking...ry_283235.html

Story from TNP Sat, 7/26/2008 http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/news/story/0,...,171754,00.html? PUNCHES & SHOVES GUARDS, MANAGER Condo visitor, who's told he can't park in middle of driveway allegedly... He was so angry that he allegedly shoved Hazel Park's condominium manager and security officer several times. And when security officers tried to wheel-clamp his white Nissan Latio, the man jumped into the car and tried to drive away. He finally stopped only when his car allegedly hit the chief security officer on the right knee. The condo manager, who wanted to be known only as Mr Chua, told The New Paper on Sunday: 'It was really not necessary for (him to show) all this rage.' The incident happened around 10am on Friday morning. Mr Chua and his colleagues were supervising and inspecting some washing and repainting works that were being carried out at the condominium. The visitor, aged around 70, had stopped his car in the middle of the driveway. Mr Chua, 48, said: 'When I saw that, I approached the man and politely told him, 'Sir, you can't park your car here.' 'I pointed out the visitor lots to him and explained that he could park his car in a vacant one.' But the man apparently replied brusquely that he 'did not want the dirty water or paint to splash' on his car. With that, he made his way to the lift lobby but was stopped by Mr Chua. It was at this point that the man started to allegedly use abusive words on Mr Chua and his chief security officer, Mr Sin. Mr Chua claimed: 'While he was shouting vulgarities at us, he used his shoulder to shove us away. 'He even went to the extent of using a four-letter word at me. I kept telling him, 'Sir, you don't have to use such words'.' But the man ignored them and rushed into the lift. While they waited for him, Mr Chua said he instructed his security officers to bring a wheel clamp. He also called the police. When the man returned to the lobby about three minutes later, he was angry to see Mr Chua and his colleague waiting for him. 'In between swearing at us and trying to push his way through, he threw a punch on my left cheek,' Mr Chua alleged. At this point, the security officer had returned with the wheel clamp and went on to clamp the car as instructed by Mr Chua. The furious man jumped into his car and attempted to drive away. He reversed his car about six metres before allegedly hitting Mr Sin on his right knee. By then, some residents had been alerted by the commotion. One of them took photos of the skirmish on her handphone. She told Lianhe Wanbao: 'He just continued to swear at the men. He even called them big bullies who abused their authority.' The housewife claimed: 'Even after he hit the security officer, he got out of his car and continued to shout at them. He did not even apologise.' Mr Chua added: 'He also called the police and told them that there were about five to 10 men manhandling him.' A police spokesman confirmed that a man was 'arrested for causing hurt by rash act to a person on a driveway of Hazel Park'. It is believed that the man had gone to the apartment to pick up some documents. Mr Chua said: 'When we approached the resident to inform him about the incident later, we were told that the man was just a customer. But we've made it clear that we would be barring him from entering the premises again.'
