  1. Hi All, Anyone got feedback on Video/Movie playback on the AVH-8750BT? After almost a year of installation, here's the user experience. 1. If you plug in iPhone Car Play. You cannot view the movie in the HU, only to the external or back seat monitors. Safety reasons. 2. Can play almost all formats as long as H.264. *.avi, *.mp4 or *.mkv. Except HD files >1GB will be slow to load. 3. USB2 reader ONLY reads FAT32. Please remember to format it FAT32, not NTFS. FAT32 is more stable. 64GB usb will get 59GB. But more stable, less error. 4. Annoyance #1: Movie player does not remember and resume the last played movie position. Player keeps going back to the first movie on the USB. You will have to spend time going back to your last view movie manually and scroll to the last watched point. (important feature) 5. #2: Not subtitles capability (not essential but good to have) Anyone got updates for the firmware or software for this? Cheers.
  2. I have bought 2 Focal amplifiers FP4.75 & FP1.800, and a 13" Focal subwoofer ten years ago. Due to COE law, I am force to get rid of my nicely maintained car and got to transfer these audio component to my new ride. These Focal amplifiers were much sought after during ten years ago. After a decade, I am surprise they still sound decent. The unfortunate thing is that my new car uses a different speakers size of 4" while my previous car uses 6.5" speakers, so I ended up buying a new pair of speakers for my front doors. I was offered to choose either Focal plug n play or K2 Power. The verdict is clear as there isn't much difference in price and so I decided on K2 Power. I had car audio installation from a small shop(have many trophies) with frequent customers at cheaper price, but this time I went to a slightly reputable bigger audio shop(also have many trophies) with more expensive cars at their workshop and charge a higher price. Total items & installation price can be difference of more than $100++. So, did I pay more for better tuning advise, workmanship, service? A sensitive topic with an easy answer. Tuning advise is depend on how newbie the customer is. To a newbie, whatever shit the installer says, the customer will agree as he/she has already parted few thousands dollar to buy happiness. To a customer to who has been burned his/her pocket with ICE before, the installer with discuss and give options on sound tuning, which is a rather accessible knowledge from internet these days. In fact, most customers ended readjusting their bass level after the installer knowledgeable tuning. As for service, most shops are customer service oriented these days. In car audio competition, judges not only focus on sound but also weight in heavily on presentation and installation. So if you think a good workmanship is worth the extra on your expensive car, then you should pay the difference.
  3. received a letter today, Channel 855 (catch-up TV - yellow button playback) will be discontinued after 31 Dec 2013, replaced by 857 VV Drama-On-Demand (higher monthly subscription). HATE IT!!!! do we have alternate choice? I need VV Drama for my parent and MIO is not comparable yet.
  4. Just sharing this clip my friend created...which in fact won the grand prize yesterday: Playback
  5. Do you like me, have a habit of listening to songs via your computer? If yes, then my advice might be relevant to you. chances are that you might be using either iTunes, winamp, Songbird or WMP etc. Somehow even though the PC audio systems available on the marketight have improved by leaps and bounds, the audio output is still somehow less than desirable. I for instance, desire more oomph in the bass frequency range, less tinny sounds in the treble range. Generally some songs sound muddy and ruddy and audio come across as less than being crystal clear. Still i am not those people whom you associate as Audiophiles. Sure, i appreciate audio technica earphones over your typical run of the mill earphones and i can differentiate songs which are being processed using a joint stereo channel or separate channels. However in the shop, i can't differentiate and thus appreciate the sound quality superiority offered by a $69 audio technica earphones over a $38 earphones. All i heard was that the bass sounded fuller thats all. I have been using this audio DSP (digital signal processing) plugin by SRS labs. It is called SRS Audio Sandbox. The difference between this plugin and the typical plugins found on the market is that usually plugins are written for specific music players e.g. SRS iWoW for iTunes (for mac) etc. This SRS audio Sandbox is a holistic PC solution that if allowed to start as a running process, will enhance your audio experience from bootup to shutdown. I personally have never looked back after using this gem. My own preferred settings is as follows, Lest you think i am using a good (and expensive) set of high fidelity speakers, nah i am just using a cheapo set of Creative SBS 560 5.1 speakers. I remember carting it away from Creative for $69 lol. It has been serving me well for 5 years and running. For those bros using iTunes and have been experiencing poor playback, i have another peice of advice. Firstly go to iTunes> View>Show equalizer. Tweak it till it is like this. But for my case, i decreased the output i.e. the overall amplification to -2 dBi since i am already on audio Sandbox. My cheap and good advice.
