The owner might have died and no one knows that his car is at the carpark. I also know of another car which is parked in the MSCP of Rafflesia condominium for more than 1 year. Why i know? By looking at the amount of dirt and dust accumulated on the car and also it has been in the same lot on the same level for that period of time. I wonder why the security guards nvr find it weird.

Possible for owner to have abandoned car there, come back SG report vehicle stolen. In such cases, are owners still liable to pay bank remainder of loan since insurance covers mkt value of car?

Hope the driver of the car is ok and the abandoned car was not because of some mishap to him.

Hope it is not another one of the famous lawyer's murder case where the body had been burnt and dump by the river ...... [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

Will investigate. Thanks. It belongs to a British National.

Hi Iisterry, any news update to the owner or what happened to the vehicle? Must be a stolen case and left for dead. On hindsight, if stolen, sure gone over to thai boarders already. Wonder what really happened man...

His last registered phone number was un-manned. Maybe I'll drop a snail mail to his address if I remember tomorrow.

His insurer & financier has been notified but the insurer says that the policy has lapsed and no claims has been made thus far. Haven't followed up with the financier.

You registered just to ask this question, might you be a murderer per chance? [idea] And the plot thickens...

Haha. The only thing i would murder would be ants. I just joined as a new copen owner and wonders if he is on the club. I remembered vividly when searching at sgcarmart previously that the car is being auctioned off. So most probably the bank has recovered the vehicle and is trying to recover some cost.

The auctioneer is GE money. By any chance are you working for GE money?

Regards.

Haha I see. When did you see the auction advert, are you sure its the same vehicle?

I'm not an expert on de-registered/stolen vehicles, but from what I recall, the only way to recover cost for the vehicle is to export it. It can't be allowed on Singapore roads any longer (I may be wrong).

Yes, the financier was GE. No, I'm not with GE money.

Considering the fact that I believe there is only 1 new Copen left in Singapore coupled with the crazy Yen, you must have got your Copen resale? From their club? I doubt the owner is registered there, most of the expats don't really seem to mingle with local car clubs.

ah.. copen owner.... sorry to off topic... but wanna ask, so how's it like driving this car? I am of two minds about it... sometimes when see the car, esp with top down, it looks very cute and stylish. But sometimes when look at it - does not look appealing (esp with top up). Can't decide to finally like or dislike this car... ha ha!

Yup, I got a 2nd hand one from the market. No familiar with de-registered vehicle though. For the GE car, I saw the number plate at turf city storage area when they went for auction.

In cases like this, do you think it is advisable to purchase such cars?

In this case, what do you think actually happened?

Hi,

I think the copen is well suited as a 2nd car or a weekend chill-out car. Daily drives might be taxing on the roads. Some people like it small, some don't. It is a matter of preference.

BTW, this is my 4th car and intend to be a leisure one for weekends.

Hm, so long as you are able to view and ascertain the condition of the car, I don't think its an issue. Just replace the fluids and replenishables and it should be good to go.

Not sure exactly what happened to it though. There is implied client confidentiality practices.

Offhand, Dubai had a lot of expats abandoning their Ferraris at the airport though.

This car is a toy to keep around at home. CK Tang's retail manager got an off peak red Copen. Another school teacher got Jeanette's pearl white Copen, sprayed off the paintings though.

interesting. if insurance not claimed means the car was deregistered, either for export or scrapping.

if it was for export, is strange to see the car lying there collecting dust in KL.
