Swift 1st Gear November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 heard from my SE that Tan Chong will continue bringing in the current Sunny even after the launch of the new Sunny. The current Sunny will be used to compete with the Vios and Lancer is the low 50k market, whereas the Latio will compete with Altis in the 60k region. The new Sunny targeted competitior is the new Civic 1.8 in the Cat B category... btw, anybody who booked their sunny during the 47k price time got their COE already? Sunny just raised their price by another 1k. Ex manual selling for 51k now... ↡ Advertisement
Estrangable 5th Gear November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 but the current sunny has been around for so many years....ard 7 years. Jeez, it's time to phase it out.
Swift 1st Gear November 14, 2005 Author Share November 14, 2005 but then Tan Chong will not have a car to compete with the Vios and Lancer And at least sunny is still "made in Japan".
Acemundo Supercharged November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 this must be the car that's reaping the highest ROI. 7 years shelf life and continue to be sold as 1st hand car......and singaporeans will still buy it, cos it jepun make and cheap mah.....jepun higher quality than tomyam
Acemundo Supercharged November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 it is such a joke, an old generation sunny being sold at the same time as new generation sunny? why don't they just say they haven't finish clearing the stocks for the old sunny? Soya Supersonic November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 they did that b4 for the sunny & sunny VIP. give it a VIP name and the prehistoric past is easily forgotten.
Kanr 1st Gear November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 did not hear anyone ot the 47k but te price is better than to get other brands which i think so!!
Acemundo Supercharged November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 hehe...so now the new one is sunny bluebird right? i think tc just capitalise on the weakness of the singapore mkt well. sell anything made in japan cheap and they will get the demand. rebrand or extend the family name and it becomes a different car. Mzrmazda3 6th Gear November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 Yap The current Sunny has been around since the series of SCZ/SDA
Fortress Clutched November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 (edited) honestly, Sunny is only used in Singapore, hence, you can take any model and brand it. It is called Sentra, especially in Malaysia or Campus USA. One of the many reasons it has been re-brand, in my view, is the marketing strategy to overcome the image of an Unsafe car. Acemundo Supercharged November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 which lends weight to my suspicion they are merely clearing stock instead of the grand old reason to fight the competitors like vios
Swift 1st Gear November 14, 2005 Author Share November 14, 2005 why unsafe? I booked a sunny last month but havent get COE yet...don't scare me leh...The car looked quite solid though. Finishing better than Vios which i was considering too.
Fortress Clutched November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 Yes, you are right. Remember the Sunny VIP, it was a useless piece of machine overseas, cause there is no tachometer, cannot go into those markets and Singapore has a delayed deadline, they re-flag as Sunny VIP and the people here thinks they got a great buy. Easyrider 6th Gear November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 but then Tan Chong will not have a car to compete with the Vios and Lancer And at least sunny is still "made in Japan". I thought the sunny was made in Thailand too? http://motoring.asiaone.com.sg/articles/N_...050704_001.html 'The capacity of the Nissan plant, located 21km east of Bangkok will rise to about 200,000 vehicles by 2008, from 130,000 today. Models include the Frontier pickup truck, the Cefiro, the Sunny, and several others not announced yet.'
Fortress Clutched November 14, 2005 Share November 14, 2005 I meant one of the top 6 Unsafe car. Have a look, it is called Sentra, Sunny is a local name. http://www.forbes.com/lifestyle/vehicle/20...tml?partner=rss pardon me for rubbing salt on wounds, been saying this for a long time here. Hence I have never had a japanese car in my 22 cars.
