Current sunny will not be phased out

heard from my SE that Tan Chong will continue bringing in the current Sunny even after the launch of the new Sunny. The current Sunny will be used to compete with the Vios and Lancer is the low 50k market, whereas the Latio will compete with Altis in the 60k region. The new Sunny targeted competitior is the new Civic 1.8 in the Cat B category...

btw, anybody who booked their sunny during the 47k price time got their COE already? Sunny just raised their price by another 1k. Ex manual selling for 51k now... [smallcry]

but then Tan Chong will not have a car to compete with the Vios and Lancer [laugh]

And at least sunny is still "made in Japan". [laugh]

it is such a joke, an old generation sunny being sold at the same time as new generation sunny?

why don't they just say they haven't finish clearing the stocks for the old sunny?

hehe...so now the new one is sunny bluebird right?laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

i think tc just capitalise on the weakness of the singapore mkt well. sell anything made in japan cheap and they will get the demand. rebrand or extend the family name and it becomes a different car.tongue.gif

honestly, Sunny is only used in Singapore, hence, you can take any model and brand it. It is called Sentra, especially in Malaysia or Campus USA. One of the many reasons it has been re-brand, in my view, is the marketing strategy to overcome the image of an Unsafe car.

I booked a sunny last month but havent get COE yet...don't scare me leh...The car looked quite solid though. Finishing better than Vios which i was considering too.

Yes, you are right. Remember the Sunny VIP, it was a useless piece of machine overseas, cause there is no tachometer, cannot go into those markets and Singapore has a delayed deadline, they re-flag as Sunny VIP and the people here thinks they got a great buy. laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

I thought the sunny was made in Thailand too?

'The capacity of the Nissan plant, located 21km east of Bangkok will rise to about 200,000 vehicles by 2008, from 130,000 today. Models include the Frontier pickup truck, the Cefiro, the Sunny, and several others not announced yet.'
