Don't know if the difference in the pics makes any difference to the test results. We can debate this till the cows come home...but I trust my own instincts more. So far, I've done about 17,000km on the Xrev ZeroFriction (with 1 oil change at 10,000km) and I have to say I'm very happy with it. That's why I'm just waiting for my next servicing interval to come up to try the Racing Formula. With the ZeroFriction now at $65, I think it's value for money. The Racing Formula is higher at $85 but contains more additives and ester base oil. So depends on what you are looking for...

1. I'm someone who doesn't trust that fully syn oil can last more than 10K effectively. Hence, I change about every 5K interval. I'm also someone who doesn't believe in paying more than $60 for 4L of engine oil since I change them often.

2. So far, I've tried various oil weight of Defi, RP, liquid Moly & Mobil One and they are all less than $60.

Regards,

paiseh for asking about engine oils again but...i just bought cxxxxxe triple r 5w40..my car's mileage now's at 30000km...is 5w40 still ok or should go for 5w30..? cos i heard only cars with higher mileage need 40..not sure if 5w40 is optimal for my car....thanks in advance...

Sud not b a major problem. U prob can use XW30 or XW40 oils.

30 will give u slightly better fuel consumption(FC) but 40 gives slightly more protection.

Just check your owners manual but I think both also u can use.

My car has a milage of more than 360,000km & I started to use 40weight oil. Previously used 50 weight but both about the same to me.

30 weight usually costs more so if u dont need a thin oil, just use the 40 weight can lah.

I dont think u do high speed performance driving so it dosent really matter between the 2. [thumbsup]

The technology seems sound - using fully synthetic ester base and an all-liquid additive, although it is vague about where this additive is derived from.

I think they say its proprietary - ie developed by the company, unlike say Molybdenum.

laugh.gif Cool_jazz says forget redline. Its too expensive and its UOA results are not significantly better than the Castrol SLX 0w30 or Mobil 1 Supersyn 0w40 wink.gif

Save the money and get the Mobil 1 0w40 whenever its on sale in Giant or Carrefour..... sly.gif

Has it been tested for compatibility with cat converter?

They should chuck the gimmicky no oil test and replace it with test showing wear after multiple start go situation, as most engine wear occurs at start-up.

True, but the UOA on Xrev (see www.x-lube.com) shows no bearing and piston wear...after 10,000km with fuel dilution. Now that's an interesting benchmark to beat!

Hummm, just to share, the Caltex petrol station at JB selling 10w30 oil at $42RM! Mineral oil though. However, in 3 litres bottles only... Nv saw the one litre bottle. Wondering if I can mix caltex oil with cxxxxxe oil? Still has some leftover from my last oil check...hee
