May I ask if you have looked at the voltages (at least your own) using oscilloscope for various driving profiles when you give the advice.

 

I don't believe in making a system more complicated than it already is already. Just leave it lah! Add Ulimate whatever for what? What kind of gains? Extreme driving conditions? What do you think we are doing daily? Extreme grocercy racing?

Is there any necessary reason to do so? My car brings me to work, grocery shopping and back home. This piece of machine isn't exactly the X-15 trying to break speed records.

 

It all boils down to expectations. I don't expect it to meet near perfect oscilloscope profiles and there is no need to do things to make it meet those oscilloscope profiles.

 

Remember my "elephants on the road" parable? Why make a solution for a problem that is so negligible or even non-existent and have no impact whatsoever in your life in the first place! When in doubt apply Occam's Razor.

 

If you want to make your car into a bigger money pit than it already is with snake oils, go ahead.

solved it.. the new plug wires connectors were not secured

maybe hard cornering caused it too

Can understand your simple expectation of car. Not sure if it's the same for everyone here.

 

Personally I am doubtful that the design and material of cars are all that it ever can give you for what you have paid, particuarly if ain't paying for those most expensive models. Hope you understand what I mean.

 

Seems there are potentials for improvement, and sometimes not exactly negligible. Surely many of them are not snake oils, just hearing from the snake oil type of arguments from their contenders.

I mean afterall, cosmetics don't reverse aging but they do cover up the effects of aging.

When you guys mentioned the sotong tentacles or high performance cables, you are actually referring to the high tension cables, right?

 

So, what is the verdict?

Iridium or platinum spark plugs?

Combined with high tension cables, is the cost of installing these justifiable for the performance and FC improvements?

I wud strongly suggest u stick to what your handbook recommends. Try to stick to original equipment as much as possible.

 

If it says Iridium, then use it. But if it says normal copper plugs, then they r the best to use.

 

High tension cables dont seem to work better than the original cables as seen in a test done & posted in MCF. The originals have the correct resistance for your plugs.

 

If your "sotong" is not damaged, no need to change lah.

Save your money. Don't change cables until you have covered 100k km.

Dont need it now i guess. Last servicing by tanchong was at 50k km.....now at 60+k km.

 

When do you suggest to do the change?

Don't play games lah! I'm not cleverer than most of us. Most of us are cleverer than you.

 

Talk to people like Chromas, Chisiang and Falk. They have turbocharged rides. They have already committed to a such a performance machine. Spending money on it with ignition enhancers and front mount intercoolers is not vain. Any bit to help shave off time with such a car is not only commendable but highly recommended.

 

To do so for a normal grocery getter is vain. Just to let you know, we are not talking about improving any car with $500 enhancements. We are talking about daily passenger cars.

 

Like how one forummer puts it. All the stupid enhancements you put into a grocery getter won't make it remotely close to what the above forummers have as a car. In the end, after all that money, it is still passenger car and not a sports passenger car if there is such a thing. If anyone wants to deviate from this just to make their daily passenger car achieve such ludricous and lofty goals, let him do so and screw himself financially and royally. An exercise in pure vanity. Nothing good will come out of it. If they come out saying they got the experience of trying, well only losers say that.

Well, if they have taken them out to inspect (which I doubt!) and gapped them at 60k, they are good for another 20k. Usually if you gap them every 10k, 30k the most for coppers.

Not sure you are aware how many have sustained permanent damage to their cars to believe there ain't performance without turbo or super charging.

Not sure you are aware how many are wise enough to go buy a turbocharged or supercharged car and are very happy instead of screwing themselves trying to turbocharge or supercharge a grocery getter.
