I heard of cases cars with steering or pedal locks etc, dunno wat sai alarm, end up car still kana stolen.

They really have their ways. lipsrsealed.gif

Exactly. All those locks & what have u r just deterrents only. It cannot prevent your car from being stolen.

The best is to put the locks to delay the process & park in a brightly lit area & with pple moving around who can see your car.

Thieves just love to "work" in dark secluded areas where they can do their deed away from pple's view.

You can get a driving Malaysia map from their tourism board in Singapore. Search on directory. Just call them and give them your address and they will mail to you. If you more about Genting also can get it. Now I have the map on hand. Every tried using the map to make a loop from east coast till Kota baru-Thai border then cross over to west side and return through NS highway. The journey is about 5 days with 1 overnight in Kuantan, Trengganu and Ipoh. Visit and stop along the way on different towns.

Going to Genting is not difficult as is a tourist spot. From Sin get to NSHW straight all the way till the last toll (Sungei Besi). After the toll up in front on left there is a Pertros Kiosk, fill upi if you want. Just after this Kiosk stay left and notice a sign to Kuantan which you need to turn into taking you to Cheras. Follow on for about 25km you will notice Genting signs asking you to keep left. Just follow on to Karak HW to Kuantan. Slowly you will find the entrance to Genting on teh left.

Its a risk everytime driving in. I am thinking even if u have all the alarms and locks, they can simply drive a tow truck come and tow yr car away. Alarm not activated. Steering locked also never mind...

the best is to take a bus up and back if you're just going genting... no point risking your car and you get to sleep a few hours... the last time i drove an suv up, was so scared that it would get stolen...

anyone know where to get a map of M'sia??

intending to drive up to Genting.. but no GPS etc.. only got a pair of eyes to see road sign.. but i believe road signs not enough.. [sweatdrop]

No need map la. Driving to Genting is easier than driving from orchard to senkang central. Less turns and traffic lights.

From tuas to NSE, you only need to filter (not turn) left about 4 x before reaching genting.

1. I just came back from my MY trip. I stayed in Colmar Tropicale and car is parked right outside my room. The hotel room is joined to the car park. I also went to Gentings, which is nearby Bukit Tinggi and parked at 1st world.

2. My GTS system alerted me at about 8am in the morning at CT and I rushed to my car. Saw one suspcious looking chap with white cap running away from my car. Nothing happened to the car though. This is my 1st encounter of stranger getting real close to my car. May be he saw my steering lock, gearbox lock and brake pad lock and gave up. A SG MPV parked near me doesn't have a single lock, so really depending on your sense of security and how much you want to invest. I actually like to see what kind of locks people used in their cars.

3. Genting is pretty safe lah, the car parks not tow truck friendly one. If worried, every few hours go check your car at the car park lor [laugh]. Park near lift lobby better.

Wah good. All your locks provide deterrence to potential crime offenders and provide delays in action for confirmed crime offenders. laugh.gif

How much have you invested for all your locks?

Your GTS system is rather interesting. Care to tell me more abt it and how it works?

1. Yap, it only serves as a deterence and to delay their actions. Should be a few minutes or so for an expert to unlock and it gives me time to reach my car. Locks are cheap, roughly S$300 can provide for them. GTS costs much more, you can contact the inventor at 90099103 for cost.

2. Basically, GTS is a motion detector. It will sms you when it senses vehicle movement. If the car stolen, it will tell you the compass directions, speed, nearby POI and etc that you car is heading towards at every preset time intervals.

3. I'm now looking for car DNA services.

Some of the slopes are really steep. For once I tot my ride couldn't get up the slopes fully loaded. [sweatdrop]

After that Genting trip I gave the car a thorough check-up.

For the steep slopes, which is worse, genting or cameron?

I actually prefer the car to be as near to me as possible. Parking at cable car station and taking cable car up genting is a no no to me unimpressed.gif

Which will be safer, park at genting, or park at KL hotel, then take bus to genting?
