Rickster 5th Gear April 27, 2007 Share April 27, 2007 whether wanna change car in the next 5-6 years might not even happen. so at least i wanna buy a car which i dun might drivin till i scrape it. i got ever though of buying 2nd hand car, but come to think of it, still not worth it. cheaper by only a few thousands but more interests. of cos by limit myself to $650 per month, doesnt mean that i dun have spare cash for mods and others. but why u might ask, why not i buy my dream car now. reasons like being a new driver, its better to get use to the driving 1st, then the fact that insurance with 0% NCD will be a bomb. i do believe that if buying sometin, its better be sometin u like or u enjoy and no regrets about. especially when it comes to car. its a cost of ur life or enjoyment of ur life will depends on the choice u make. agreed? Follow your heart. I believe buying a car is like marrying a wife. You don't go around to compare whose breasts are bigger and who is better in bed etc etc. You go with your heart. Go for the car that appeals to you or tug your heartstrings more - in your case, both the Fit and Lancer are pretty good and reliable cars.

Tonyg Clutched April 27, 2007 Share April 27, 2007 (edited) IMO, firstly set on your mind which brand you wish to own first. No pt you love Honda and you are buying another brand. Later you might regret. Than you will try to pin pt a lot of fault on your own car. Secondly, consider budget. Must be able to breath why you are paying your installment. Say if you like Honda brand and you know that your budget is tight, than get another cheaper brand. Or else every month you will have headache of forking money. End of the day just decide yourself which brand to buy so that you can say to yourself, I choose it and I will have to bare with it. 5 cts thought. Emperor Clutched April 27, 2007 Share April 27, 2007 Why choose to buy a car only to try to maximise its horsepower? Just go for the performance car straight away!! But, if budget is your choice, then dont go for mods. Besides, as you say, mods are illegal. And if you're gonna buy a car and spending more money on mods, get a performance car instead. Save that money! Honestly, the Lancer would be a better buy. It lasts longer. Last note: both cars are not worth the modifications. Keep it simple. Practicality is best. My point of view. Liping24 Neutral Newbie April 27, 2007 Share April 27, 2007 Just get a powerful car. Just pedal to metal if you want to feel the power of the car. Most car are already powerful, if you are willing to use its full rev. When you said as fast as fit...do you mean the acceleration? Are you trying to win at each traffic light race? Or do you want top speed of >180km/hr? I think mit lance is just as fast as fit, a 1-2 seconds difference from 0-100km is insignificant on Singapore road. Its the 130-160km/hr..where driver guts that determine the 'performance' of the car. Of course I understand when most people talk about power, they are talking about acceleration timings. To make a mit lancer 'as fast ' as the fit, you just need to change the first and second gear ratio!

Even then, it doesn't prove that its more durable.
Galantspeedz Turbocharged April 28, 2007 Share April 28, 2007 that is why everything in the forum should be taken with a pinch of salt. so do u have any way to prove? then i can consider to get a honda or mitsu next time.
Theoldjaffa Hypersonic April 28, 2007 Share April 28, 2007 i don't need to prove anything, because i did not make any statement in the first place. i only has a question: to find out from TS on what basis is Mitsu less reliable than Honda and that's it.

Chemz Clutched April 28, 2007 Share April 28, 2007 i've sat in both, but owned neither. my thoughts are as follows: Honda Fit -very maneuverable, easy to park/squeeze -outlook/interior wise looks better than the lancer -better pick up than the lancer, doesn't feel floaty at high speeds Mitsu Lancer -has bigger boot than the fit definitely -if you have to get a lancer, get the manual and definitely not the cvt variant(it was a nightmare for me) -honestly, it makes me feel very unsafe, it feels really light and floaty at eway speeds. i read that someone posted it weighs heavier than a sunny, but i feel that the sunny is more stable than the lancer. perhaps it's the lancer suspension setup. -pretty light metal shell, doesn't have that firm assurance. -plus point would be price and maintenance down the years. so all i can add is if price is a major factor, go for the lancer. the fit is indeed expensive for such a tiny car but prices aside, the fit is better to drive than the lancer to me. if you can stretch ur wallet a bit, maybe you could go for the civic. Galantspeedz Turbocharged April 28, 2007 Share April 28, 2007 not asking you to prove. jusk asking what u think is the best way to know which cars are most durable? then next time if find car can find based on that mah. if have muz share share. Wilb Clutched April 28, 2007 Share April 28, 2007 Test drive it. But surely i will go for the Fit. Good FC and Performance wise is surely better. ↡ Advertisement
