SS2 engine 2ZZ-GE employs VVTL-i producing 180hp. By d way, VVTL-i means variable valve timing and lift - intelligent. Under 6k RPM, only VVT-i is in operation. After that, valve lift will come into pic. D major downside of tis side of this engine is valve lift starts from 6k RPM till 8.2k RPM (electronic cut-off). U got only 2k RPM to work on. D major diff wif I-VTEC is I-VTEC has SOHC VVT, whereby, 2ZZ-GE is dual VVT. So, @ low RPM, 2ZZ-GE has better torque curve. Sadly, Toyota Celica Mk 7 is EOL. So, can only buy used ka. Espire 1st Gear April 20, 2007 Share April 20, 2007 I got both cars... vtec got pulling factor integrated. u can feel the car sudden surge and keep pulling away.. vvti to me like nothing.. nothing to experience. so its just a meaningless term to me.. cant feel anything. At this price, s2000 is a much better deal. if iam not wrong,Lotus is using VVTL-I and not VVTI.similar to the Celica SS2 engine. correct me if iam wrong. VVT-I is definely much smoother as power & torque is build up gradually as there is no sudden surge in power. Meaningful or not is dependant on individual. I like performance and in this scenario, honda's vtec pulls it off better than toyota's vvt-i. can't we have the best of both worlds .... only can afford to buy one car Got!
