U can find them in abundance across the causeway in some of the spare parts shops opp. Pelangi in JB.

Just a warning, even Malaysians themselves dare not even buy those brand oil. They rather travel to Sg and pay more for it. Just do a search in autoworld forums and you will understand how deep the problem is in Malaysia of imitation oil.

There was discount on Mobile 1 Motor oil last week at $12.90 per quart at Giant Supermarket. Now not sure if the discount still available this week, but they should still be selling the oil.

I only saw 0W40 and 10W30. Not sure about 5W30

Cheers.

why do u buy oil in quarts? to top up? is this necessary?

It comes in quarts for whatever reasons I'n not sure. Maybe like what U said for top-up purpose? Especially for older (leaky) cars? Or maybe its a US standard? Maybe someone can advise.

Mine is a 1 year old car. If need top-up then something wrong == leakage somewhere and will go for warranty already.

Cheers. [pirate]

Main reason why it comes in quart or per litre is because in USA or Europe, cars generally come with bigger cc (3000-6000cc is very common). A GM 3.8L would take 6 quart of oil, a 4 litre pack of oil will not be enough.

hi guys just reading up through the thread. wonder if any getz owners here on shell helix / mobile syn engine oil? any recommendations? thanks!

FYI, KMC uses shell oils if you service with them.

If i did not remember reading the manual wrongly, you should be looking at somewhere between 0-5w30-40 range.

getz can use as low as 5w-20 or 10w30 as per owners manual

i think 5w30 not very advisable though.. owners manual says sth abt this grade being unsuitable for harsh driving conditions

ASL 5w30 should be as good as M1ep i think, also alot of my customer who switch to Amsoil is very happy with it. Most get the ASM 0w20 though.

ASL is doing great in my dad's car, got many good reviews in BITOG as well.

ASM is getting pretty good reviews from there as well.
