I think there is a misunderstanding, everyone read my post seem to think that the stationary vehicle is very close. it is actually still some distance away, definitely got space in front.

200 meter is my estimation, accurate or not? say the distance from goodwoodpark hotel traffic lights to marriot hotel. 200 meters? can you drive from traffic lights at goodwoodpark hotel left most lane filter to center lane by then? its not that difficult even if traffic heavy right?

i neber say signal got right of way. but if you are already in front and accelerating can filter in, won't block other car in center lane, its not wrong either. unless the center lane car play with you.

last FACT, this is not cruising speed situation, just move from traffic light lar.

I'm sorry to here that. But like I said...I'm surprised to hear from the TP that I'd my right of way as I'd signal loooong time already and when I started to switch lane the other car just accelerated and close the gap on me.

chiak lat lar.. ok start from begining.

3 car at traffic light. i on right lane. one on center one on left.

stationary vehicle is 200 meters ahead. this vehicle stays there and does not move.

lights turn green, all move off.

from my car, i can see left lane car pick up speed and center lane car still behind.

left lane car signals and then coming out, i can see also.

suddenly i hear loud engine roar and center lane car speed up. i then hear the incessant horning by the center car.

center car keeps pace with left lane car, he does not go ahead nor back down.

left lane car eventually slow down in his lane. center car also slow down to match his speed.

i think center lane car a bit crazy.

how can stationary vehicle and moving car mix up?

sigh... now i know why i gave up posting here. it is like talking to a bunch of 12 year olds.

i said this before and now i say again, the driving ethics in Singapore is really [thumbsdown]

good luck to us all.

Is not the ethics but lack of courtesy. If someone signalling to change lane within safe distance please give way it won't take you time even 1 minutes.....just courtesy pass it on!!!

ignore all other idiotic ppl here who rebuke you.

in the eyes of the law...and I am sure most, if not all, TP will agree....if based on what you say, the left car with enough space had already signal, the right car which is behind the left car in horizontal plane speaking MUST give way, if there is any accident, the right car will be wrong.

I'd encountered this problem once at the Rochor Flyover. As usual the traffic is always pretty choatic there, however I signaled my intention to filter from lane 3 to 4 just before the flyover so that I can keep to the utmost left lane after the flyover. Then there was this idioting Jag driver sped up closed the gap, and horn immensely long on me...so I was stuch virtually 45 degrees between lane 3 to 4. Then to my surprise view on my rear mirror there was a TP (maybe he is just about 2 cars length behind us)...of course my car was blocking him from sqeezing through the lanes and I thought I was in trouble. However to my surprise, he went between our two cars, waved a hi to me, and signaled the Jag to pull over later. I winded down the window and heard that what the Jag driver did was wrong and dangerous...etc etc...

So back to you question...yes indeed there are idiotic drivers like some who have answered to you that may be practicing not to give way to signaling drivers and instead sped up... [rifle]

Think the rule you refering to is giving way to the vehicle on your right. Applies when switching lanes and/or merging lanes cos' right lanes generally is the overtaking lane, and the assumption is that the vehicles would be travelling faster speed (tat coincides with the rule UNLESS OVERTAKING KEEP LEFT).

This is just my opinion, maybe we all are used to the thinking that when signalling to change lane, we tend to expect the cars in the other lane would generally speed up and closed the gap thus they somehow expected you to speed up.

I have encountered a few drivers who are ahead of me and started to signal to come into my lane, and when i slowed down to prepare for them to come in, I sensed that they tend to hesistate whether am i really giving way for them to come in.

Maybe this is a common conception that most drivers dont expect each other to give way once signalled and instead perfer not to signal eventually.

Just my two cent thought [nod]

Want to know if bros here have got rants about other drivers who look for trouble.

I start the ball rolling by ranting on what i saw today.

I was sitting in the passenger side and my car was on extreme right lane of a 3 lane road.

We move off the traffic lights and about 200 meters in front got vehicle blocking on the left lane.

This car was on the left lane and signal want to come out, there was another car in the middle lane behind him and could have let the car come out, instead I saw him pick up speed and block the car from coming out. The left lane car of course was already signaling and choot from his lane, but the middle lane car horn and horn and pick up speed to travel beside him. This driver seemed to want the left lane car to hit the stationary vehicle in front!!

Hi there.

In my 25 years of driving, it never occured to me that by signalling you have the right to filter into a lane with ongoing traffic. Weather or not a car wants to give way to you to filter out is purely his decision and i dont recommend because sudden braking may cause accidents. To filter not only signalling but you must wait untill there is sufficient clearance before moving out.

I really don't know what the driver is thinking.. is he looking for trouble?

What about the rest of the bros here? comments and rants?

i dun tink this is a case of finding trouble. Initially i tot u were refer to those boy/ger racers who jio ppl to race from one traffic light to another or tailgaters.

Den again, ur nick is nolicence, i suppose u dun have a licence?

Bro, from what you have written, i would say that the centre lane driver has [thumbsdown][thumbsdown][thumbsdown] road courtesy [:|]

But maybe, in the earlier part when you didn't witness, the left lane driver might have dangerously cutted into his lane or what hence it's really hard to judge [nod][nod][nod] Gonna give him the benefit of doubt [;)]

I just want to say I don't think any driver would horn continuously for nothing. TS got the plate number? What make is it? Hopefully that driver can clarify. Maybe she complained to TP liao?

Sometimes different angles things turn out different. 3rd party on rightmost lane. Not very sure also .

*Peace*

As wad his nick suggest, i dun tink he has a licence. Probably still studying like Latioboy.

Signal only means the other car shld give way? Wad if i m travelling at 70kmh den the other car is accelerating from a standstill position? U expect me to E-brake?

Sometimes, ppl speed up to avoid accidents.
