Not at all. My C320 using old technology (pre SIRF III) still works just fine.

Your Nuvi 310 has the SIRF III chipset and is one of the fastest commonly available consumer GPS technology you can buy today. No matter what new technology comes out, your Nuvi will continue to work exactly as it has. New maps (as long as it's Garmin format) will continue to work on your device.

Think of it this way:

GPS chipset is a water tap. GPS satellite signals is water supply. Newer taps have better flow, better ergonomics. Regardless of whether you use an old tap or a new Grohe designer tap, water will still flow out of the tap. How it flows out, how much water can flow out is the only difference. But you will still get your water.

To experienced users of 53CLife:

The mini-USB looking jack on the Holux 53CLife, which is used for charging using the AC charger provided. ... is that really a USB connector for updating the SD card with new maps provided by Kingmap? I don't have a SD reader/writer hence I am checking if I can use PC to update the SD card directly via the GPS.

Thanks.

Note: the package does not include a mini<---->normal USB cable

the mini usb port is only used for charging purpose (either with the supplied ac adapter or the car charger). To update the maps, you need to shove the Mapking SD card into a card reader.

Thanks Bro [thumbsup] It would be good if they could eventually come up wif something like the Garmin where it cam be mounted on a bean bag dash board stand [nod]

One more question...does it give you a countdown to turning? eg. right turn in 200, 100, 50m...Right turn now.
