Hi all,

I am wondering taht with the current high petrol price, will people think twice when getting or upgrade to a bigger car. Or nobody care how much is petrol price since people who driving a Cat B people should be able to afford high petrol price?

Appreciate your feedback and opinion. [thumbsup]

car, to some people is not just a car that move from pt A to pt B..

thus when they buy a car, there's plenty of reason behind it.

what does this mean for you? are you looking to buy a car and can't decide whether you need a Cat B?

as bro Sony said, everyone has different priorities and pockets. there are many reasons to get a Cat B car.

it really depends on your needs and feel. Some people are satisfied carrying a family of 7 in a 660cc van while others want to bring their family of 4 out in luxury of a 3L SUV or sedan.

Traditionally when petrol up, so less people will buy bigger car and hence COE drop. So I am wonder whether this is still true.

any hybrid is expensive.

Big hybrid car will kill you many ways, like Ls600h, kill you on your high buying price, kill you on the high road tax and also kill you on high fuel consumption despite it is hybrid. [shakehead]

there will always b pple trying to make ends meet and others who spend $$ like unlimited tap water.

tat's why i always deter pple who wish to own a car for 1st time. if dun deter, sure traffic jam. in fact, those with big cars ones may b tempted to buy a 2nd car for FC. which is also good since they can only drive one at a time.

No diff with current petrol price? [dizzy]

I think tis is subjective...for those 1.8L or even some 2L models, there should not be much diff in terms of petrol consumption with a 1.6L.

For those who are buying Cat B car, petrol price should only be a small consideration.

Its a price to pay in exchange for more power. driving a 2 litre car is of a different feel compared to driving a 1. something. Buyer knows that a bigger car means more expensive road tax, higher insurance, more expensive car price ( more expensive maintenance also )

In its calculation, most car owner would be having more saving using public transport than to drive, but we took the plunge in exchange for comforts of driving.

At the end of the day, more ERP or high petrol price is only a fraction of their consideration.

When it comes to buying car, FC is only one of many considerations. And when you owned a new car, you would inevitably want the best for your ride (regardless of fuel price hikes)...incidentally, I'm still pumping premium 8000 for my 2L car (although it is arguable whether higher RON will make a diff. to your drive) [flowerface]

Hence, I would say that despite the price hike, pple who fancy bigger cc cars for many other reasons will still go for it [nod]
