wow,134bhp is pretty good result.

anyway after installing the cams, how much redline can your car take now?

i supposed you also change the valve springs and retainers?

My power cut is at 6.6k rpm. Unichip cannot disable the power cut. My tuner claimed it can go higher with more free flow exhaust and removed power cut with stand alone ecu. Now from 5.5K onwards, The exos sounds choky although power climbs continue with great pulling force. The graph looks very linear and should be able to go up more with bigger exos and removed power cut.

according to the graph, your car should be able to go up to 7-7.2k rpm in my opinion.thumbsup.gif

so changing gear at 7k rpm should be optimum.wink.gif

But need to find a tuner who can fit a stand alone ECU so as to remove the power cut at 6.6k. Got a turbo charged aveo in other country fitted a Microtech LT-6 or LT-10 I think.

if u run microtech....i'd rather run a carb....more reliable...cos after all microtech also only one mapping...which is no different as having a carburettor...somemore u on load...will have problems...cold start...lagi worse...emanage ultimate would be a better option...

even so...can the components take the high revs? unless hes changed the rods like what he mentioned in the prev. posts and also balance the crank(with flywheel and crank pulley) cos @ high revs vibrtations are always a cause of premature engine failure..not forgetting valve float...

i believe slightly higher(500-600rpm more) than stock redline is still acceptable.

as for valve float, just change those necessary stuffs like valve springs,retainers..etc which is not going to cost alot of money as compare to strengthening the engine internals.

what about megasquirt?

Have been following this thread! Congrats Gary! Glad to see you got it done...

A standalone ECU and adjustable cam-gears (or you like to call them vernier cam gears, lol) are what you need.

Your more aggressive cams mated on to the stock cam gear's should have quite a bit of overlap, as evident in your lumpy idling. Which also means that the full potential of the cams are not exploited, partly due to your rev-limit as of now.

For the standalone, is there a available harness on the market? If not, wiring = [dizzy][sweatdrop][knife][furious][bigcry]

Good luck to your on-going project and do keep us updated!

Why would you want to run carb if you have EFI?

Most ECUs are running on 1 map, what would that be a problem?

yea but they got compensations...wheras microtech dosent have any....esp if u switch on loads and that can pose a problem...also u cant really fine tune them much compared to haltech, megasquirt,MOTEC,emanage ultimate, adaptronic etc.

megasquirt is much cheaper than Haltech and I heard it can control variable valve timing activation, not too sure about Haltech confused.gifconfused.gifconfused.gif

even so u need a tuner who knows how 2 tune it properly...which i doubt SG has...haltech heard of but not megasquirt...but aveo got variable valve timing? i dunno so please correct me on this...but if he installs adjustable cam pulleys it totally negates the purpose of the variavle valve timing...
