Vtim 3rd Gear August 6, 2008 Share August 6, 2008 even so u need a tuner who knows how 2 tune it properly...which i doubt SG has...haltech heard of but not megasquirt...but aveo got variable valve timing? i dunno so please correct me on this...but if he installs adjustable cam pulleys it totally negates the purpose of the variavle valve timing... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am not sure how the variable valve timing works on Aveo but I know that for Hyundai & Kia's CVVT (VVT in other parr of the world), it is activated base on "Controlling of a CVVT can be improved by controlling the CVVT based on an estimated oil temperature, the estimated oil temperature being calculated on the basis of a coolant temperature at starting of the engine and a period of time that has elapsed after the starting of the engine." quote from this website : http://www.freepatentsonline.com/7007645.h...vvt&stemming=on so in this case, adjustable cam pulleys will really screw up the CVVT ↡ Advertisement
Xiaogary Neutral Newbie August 6, 2008 Author Share August 6, 2008 (edited) i dont get it...y is there a dip @ 2000RPMs??? that shouldnt happen... I also do not understand. My friend told me its due to the dyno machine's computer temporary "hang". But he assure me, its should be a smooth curve upwards. Another reason may be due to the lightweight flywheel. Yes, I have changed to H Beam forged conrods with ARP rod bolts which is rated to take up to 900hp. My pistons are also forged with valve's cutting holes on them. Running on 11.1:1 compression. My crankshaft were not balanced, not necessary since they were not lighten or "knife-edged" machined. Other people in UK using opel engines were using Bike carbs on these engines. R1 (yamaha 1000cc) or GSX 750 carbs with customised intake manifold. They took out the ECU. I am also thinking of quad trottles. But wonders any shop in singapore is doing. Pls reccomend if you know any. And the answer to standalone ecu, there is no available harness. Need to customise wiring. Think I would be looking for quad trottle (or tapered trottles), fuel rail + fuel injectors upgrade (most slightly AEM rail and BOSCH injectors) and 2 adjustable camshaft pulley. Not sure whether to change to short ram air. Now using AEM Cold Air intake, which the pipe is linked into the right wheel arch, ending with a AEM 3 inch Dry Flow Cone filter. This is a calculated set produced by AEM for Chevrolet Aveo. So not sure whether to change it. Since there should be some science behind it by the engineers and also spent $500+ imported it, if changed, a bit wasteful. My friend told me to change to sponge filter like the Green or Yellow one (Blitz I think). So either short ram air with new sponge filter or AEM CAI with sponge filter or stay in current configuration. Lastly, thanks guys for the encouraging words. And thanks for the helpful discussion. I have lots to learn. SO keep the discussion going. And do share your knowledge and experience. Edited August 6, 2008 by Xiaogary

Xiaogary Neutral Newbie September 14, 2008 Author Share September 14, 2008 Tried blitx i color. It does not work on my ride. Sold it off at $400. Lost $300 for trying. Hai.... But just bought another real interesting device. Its a G force sensor device which can determine hp, torque, 0-60miles/hr, 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile or 0 to whatever distance or speed you set. It can also measure the lateral (side cornering g force) and pulling g force plot against any axes you choose such as speed, time, rpm, distance...etc. It can plot graph of any 2 axes you choose. It also have a track function, useful for track session. Which it record all the above g force, rpm, speed, time, distance and can be played back or downloaded onto lap top for printing. It can print dyno chart with the axes you choose, rpm, torque, g force, hp, speed, time, distance...etc. But I need to key in the vehicle gross weight for more accurate reading. Wonder where to weigh my car. In scrap yards or recycling yards?
Xiaogary Neutral Newbie September 14, 2008 Author Share September 14, 2008 Just did some brake upgrades too. See the new rear VTTR brake disc compared to my original front brake disc. 286m vs 256mm. Sprayed the center of the rear brake disc black. As you can see, the brake caliper is only utilising part of the disc near the outer diameter, the center part was sprayed matt black. The caliper and blue vttr brake pad was sprayed bronze to match the color of my front caliper. But realised the color is not very nice. Might spray to another color next few days. But not yet decided what color. Any suggestion which color will look great? The 286mm EG6 caliper + VTTR rear disc brake looks small in my 17 inch OZ rims. Xiaogary Neutral Newbie September 14, 2008 Author Share September 14, 2008 (edited) Some pictures of my front brake. Its pretty straight forward. Just have a extension bracket to extend the caliper mounting out for bigger disc clearence to fit the 303 mm disc. The caliper is from VTTR too, 6 pot caliper. Xiaogary Neutral Newbie September 14, 2008 Author Share September 14, 2008 (edited) I got it through my friend's reccomendation. Many automotive magazine use this device to verify the hp & toque and 0-100km/h or 1/4 mile speed for those featured cars. Its a simple device plugged through cigarette lighter and connect to lab top to download the charts. Can be viewed through itself without labtop also. Yah, and it also have sequential shift light built in. Can set thr shift pt. 500rpm before it reach, it will light 1 led, then 250rpm before, it will light another, when it reach, it will light 2 more, then all 4 will blink rapidly. Icekitten Clutched September 27, 2008 Share September 27, 2008 Hi, just trying my luck in this thread... Do any of you happen to have any links to websites which list out the pistons specs of engines of common makes (Toyota, Honda, Mitsu, etc etc) ie. bore and stroke and diagram of the piston showing the side and plane views? I managed to find one such website quite some time back and need to visit it for some reference purposes now but I don't have the link anymore. Been searching on the net but haven't been able to locate the webby, or anything like it again. Seeing that the forummers partaking in this thread have some in-depth knowledge of engine parts, just wondering if any of you may have happened to have come across similar websites during your previous research and may be able to help me. Thanks a lot in advance!
