Ouch. & I thought my swift's FC was bad... [:/]

I always asume that small cars have a better FC; larger cars' FC seems to be doing betta than mine...

Terrible - I bought my swift on the basis on saving fuel; should've got a Vios or Jazz instead... [sweatdrop]

Suzuki Swift, 1.5L Auto

I do not do much highway or city driving, 90% normal roads (in suburbs) with 9.2km/l. Have not completed 1000km yet... so perhaps the fuel numbers may improve after the 1st oil change.

Petrol for all three cars: Esso Synergy 5000

Present Car (2008, March to present)

08 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T (Auto), mileage 4,000km in 45 days.

Average 8.25km/L - 60% HW / 40% City

Best 9.5km/L (80& HW/ 20% City)

Worst 6.5km/L (during first 1000km, 40% HW / 60% City)

Previous Car (2007, April to 2008, March)

07 Honda Civic 2L (Manual), mileage 26,500km in 11 months

Average 9.5km/L, 60% HW / 40% City

Best 10.5km/L (100% NSH, avg 160-200kmh)

Worst 7.75km/L (Testing phase, after 1000km run-in... avg rpm 4000-6800rpm)

Previous-Previous Car (2001, Oct to 2007, April)

91 Nissan Presea (Manual), mileage 180,000km in 6 years 6 months

Average 8.5km/L, 60% HW / 40% City

Best 10km/L (100% NSH, avg 150-190kmh)

Worst 6.5km/L (Busy sales day, rushing every where.... avg rpm 4500-7000rpm)

I used 35L in 225km in that one day!

For a decent acceptable performance (0-160 in 21s, 16.1s qtr mile) and decent fuel consumption, the Honda Civic 2L manual was simply as good as it gets.... :)

Oddly, if I drove my old Presea in the same way, even on highways..... it still out did my present "supposedly fuel efficient" Passat.... :(

[shocked] my 2005 Honda Integra GSR 2.0L (A) averages abt 11.5km/l

with legal mods to exhaust, intake & 17" rims.

But in fairness, 80% highway/20% city - moderate foot

Best FC: 13.2km/l

Worst FC: 10.3km/l

[thumbsup]

Heavy foot? Definately not becos i'm one of the last off the line when the light turns green and most of the time i'm travelling with 1 or 2 persons without any load. On top of that, I pump up my tyres to the mazda's recommended pressure every 2 weeks and keep to very FC friendly speeds of 80-95km/hr on expressways.

Basically, 18km/l is not possible at all even if you travel 100% highway. [furious]

The mazda 2 featurered in the magazine probably is the one equipped with their new miller-cycle engine, that is not available in singapore [:|]

BTW, anything with the mazda logo = drinker. To say mazda is fuel efficient is just as ridiculous as saying french cars are very reliable [laugh]

i'm driving the new mazda 2 1.5R auto and i'm getting between 13.5 - 14.5km/l with spc 95.

Worst was 1st tank: 11.5km/l on shell 95

Best: 14.5km/l on spc 95

Light to moderate foot.

50% city 50% highway

90% 1 person in car.

My ride has travelled 2500km so far.

aircon 100% on.

[laugh][laugh] Maybe I am heavier than you.

My calculation cant be wrong, full tank can run 480km. Of cos, I normally pump around left with 4 litre, so 480/51 = 9.4km/l.

Why har ?? My FC so bad >??

My 2.5l LGT gives me 9+ km/l on 60/40 trunk/highway. Cruising on just expressways, I can get 12km/l.
