I'm driving the exact same model as yours. Right now the only difference is the type of petrol we are using. I'm mainly on caltex 95. Maybe i need to try out SPC 95. MY FC is terrible considering that i'm not a heavy footer & the car weighs only 1 tonne.

i think this ia a good thread for those that maybe considering a new purchase. these figures are from actual owners/drivers of the cars, not some numbers plucked from the sales brochure. considering that fuel prices seems destined to only go in one direction (UP), FCs will play a bigger role in the consideration for that new purchase, especially if you are a heavy user i.e. like me, the driver of the family, clocking like 400-500KM a week

 

looking at the replies - i'm kinda surprised to see the results from the toyota camry and wish - very nice FCs. looking to see more FCs, keep them coming :)

TS, You wanna help summarise which car (below 1.6L, 1.6~2.0L & above 2.0L) has the best FC?

Average 8.25km/L - 60% HW / 40% City

Best 9.5km/L (80& HW/ 20% City)

Worst 6.5km/L (during first 1000km, 40% HW / 60% City)

 

Previous Car (2007, April to 2008, March)

07 Honda Civic 2L (Manual), mileage 26,500km in 11 months

Average 9.5km/L, 60% HW / 40% City

Best 10.5km/L (100% NSH, avg 160-200kmh)

Worst 7.75km/L (Testing phase, after 1000km run-in... avg rpm 4000-6800rpm)

 

Previous-Previous Car (2001, Oct to 2007, April)

91 Nissan Presea (Manual), mileage 180,000km in 6 years 6 months

Average 8.5km/L, 60% HW / 40% City

Best 10km/L (100% NSH, avg 150-190kmh)

Worst 6.5km/L (Busy sales day, rushing every where.... avg rpm 4500-7000rpm)

I used 35L in 225km in that one day!

For a decent acceptable performance (0-160 in 21s, 16.1s qtr mile) and decent fuel consumption, the Honda Civic 2L manual was simply as good as it gets.... :)

 

Oddly, if I drove my old Presea in the same way, even on highways..... it still out did my present "supposedly fuel efficient" Passat.... :(

 

Bro, the FC on Passat 1.8T is only 8,25km/l? Is it with the TSI? From the magazine, the combine FC should be about 13+km/l with the new engine?

 

OT a bit, I seldom see anyone talk about this model but I think it looks nice. Any pic to share? Hows the performance?

My 2.4 Camry can only give me 9Km/L.

Still on mineral oil...not too sure if it will get better when I change to syn oil when doing 10K svc....

 

2.4L so expected the Fc below 10km/L. Yours the one with 5 speed auto rite? New Camry haven run in?

tat is like mileage travelled with 3/8 fuel left in my tank leh... u got redline once a while to clear carbon bor??

 

Cant reach the red line, rev cut at 6.5k. Tried many times. Max it can go to is 6.3k, according to my Apexi.

 

As I had done CAI, low end suffered. Think this is the main reason.

Just another Wish for comparison, Using RON 95 - Ave 11.5km/lit, body kits, 17" rims. 50% highway, 50% city. Drop from 12.5km/lit after installing all kinds of gadgets

Mine is totally stock; no modifications yet.

 

I'm not too sure about caltex 95 cos i haven't tried it. But i'm sure shell 95 doesn't go well with our ride. spc 95 so far so good. Maybe after 5000km, i'll switch to spc 92 for a try.
