Damienic 5th Gear May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 I agree..singapore is so warm..not practical..drive in town also have to smell other vehicle exhaust..if in australia, then its a diff story. take a long drive to rural area for sight seeing and can feel the breeze.. Marquee Clutched May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 I would like to have a cabrio to drive around; I think this is a lifestyle. However I fail to see myself driving one with a baby. Having two cars is the solution I guess.
Turbonetics 2nd Gear May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 omg, this baby i just saw it parked outside Hyatt hotel. it was in baby blue colour, imagine RR in this colour, its damn sweet. new car with number plate "3333". gorgeous. the front logo/statue was hiding inside. Picanto 3rd Gear May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 a cabriolet is more of a lifestyle vehicle. not very pratical for a family man.. but if you feel that you need to potray a certain kind of image, then it may be suitable.
Damienic 5th Gear May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 Portray image for tat kind of price? no way.. Maybe Iam overly practical in this sense but the disadvantages of a cabriolet overwhelms me..I perspire very easily and a lot...driving open top in this kind of weather is bloody suffering for me..and with the cabin being exposed, it attracts dust more easily and hence the interior needs much more effort to maintain.. I will only buy this sort of car unless Iam filthy rich...got two cars..one is a practical car which I drive in daytime and for work..and maybe a cabriolet during night time for leisure purposes when its not so hot and I dun have to wear a long sleeve shirt.. If can only buy one car, Cabriolet is OUT for me!! hehe..
Miketow Neutral Newbie May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 Singapore also got rural area what - heck dun even need to drive very far out if the city already less congestion - unless you are so accustomed to CTE route then you will never realize how much open space there is - if you even bother to look - so yes - my vote is YES - can be done. Miketow Neutral Newbie May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 An yes - Singapore is hot - that is everyone's excuse for putting down Cabs - but doesnt anybody even stop to think for a moment that in so called European/American weather - where people are more used to the idea of open top driving - there are 4 seasons there - and half of time is even CRAZIER to drive top down when compared to Singapore
Damienic 5th Gear May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 Erm...pple go to rural places in australia for relaxation and short holiday.. Our rural area?? see wat? do wat? just drive there for the sake of driving there?
Miketow Neutral Newbie May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 ERR>..Yes- You are in a Car Forum - Many people here DO drive for the sake of driving. It is a form of relaxation too - you don't have to get in your car just only to get to a destination.
Damienic 5th Gear May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 it is not an excuse. I can perspire in long sleeve shirts while having lunch during daytime even when I'm not doing anything..you can get used to it doesn't mean others are unrealistic in their preference for non-open top cars. and secondly even if europeans and americans are receptive to idea of driving open top cars, are you sure that they are driving it most of the time daily? as in for work? for biz meetings? in long sleeve shirts and ties? even when I stay in australia I frequently see open top cars in rural areas and coastal driving but in town area open top cars are seldom spotted. and our weather is uncomfortable not so much becos it is warm..a lot of it is due to the humidity..it is far less humid in europe and in australia. even during summer time in sydney when there temperature hits 36 deg C, it feels less uncomfortable compared to our 33 deg C. Damienic 5th Gear May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 I did not say have to get in car only to get to a destination. I do leisure driving in singapore too. there's nothing scenic though in our rural area for heaven sake. Lim Chu Kang road? mandai? pple go there for scenery or they go there for something else?? Miketow Neutral Newbie May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 ok ok - no point arguing about this - there are obviously people who relish open top driving and many more who think it is a mad idea. I used to own an open top when I was in the U.S and I would take it out for a spin with top down - in the middle of winter with 3 layers of clothing and a down jacket - I am sure if you can be mad like that - humidity is easy peasy in singlet/shorts/dri fit. heheh Its after all - about the experience cheers
Edison Neutral Newbie May 13, 2008 Author Share May 13, 2008 Thanks guys for the contribution of your views, actually i m getting the E93 cabrio, it's the only cabrio i wanna get. Haha, its like i want it to much that kind of feeling. Having that will leave me with no spare cash for another car. No, i have not got a baby yet, but i think i will have him/her in the next 1-2 years and i want to keep the cabrio longer than that u see. I do think of the hassle of owning it with a baby. But i am thinking, i can prob open the top everytime i want to put him/her in the back seat. Haha, not sure if opening/closing it that often will spoil it. E93 really has the complete package as a cabrio for me, comfort, power, hardtop, not too cramp backseat etc..
Damienic 5th Gear May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 I can understand where you are getting at...seriously although I put down the idea of cabriolet, if there is a chance for me to own one (yes, as a 2nd car and Iam wealthy), I really would not mind to go for it..as mentioned, driving in a cab during leisure time for me is really fine..leisure driving and to go places for fun..but not as the main car for me for everyday work..I will definitely have a problem wearing long sleeve shirt with a tie and drive in it during office hours.. Kxbc Turbocharged May 13, 2008 Share May 13, 2008 Hi Guys , just like to hear your opinion on the above..Btw, having 2 cars is not an option. Put the baby seat in the front so as not to strain your back. Ask the Mrs to take taxi. Like that sure no problem with space. But for the sake of family harmony, maybe a sedan is more appropriate.
