Use Address search.

Then key in country as Singapore or S.

Spell city - select "Postal Code"

Skip the House Number by pressing Done. For street, change the input to numbers "1 2 3", then enter postal code.

Voila.

Garmin 255W is damn good. only thing is some of e postal codes is not updated. wonder if i need to get e latest MAP update or if its just me?

Both MFM and MSM maps, I understand, do not have a comprehensive database of Sg postal codes. I think both have about 20k each but the total number of postal codes in Sg far exceeded this number. If you are able to obtain the SLA's postal code file which comes in the .img format (same format as the map), then it can be merged with the map using GMapTool software. Sometimes Eastgear sells Garmin devices bundled with the SLA postal code file but dunno if the offer is still there. Both MFM and MSM have to compile their own postal codes and it is ongoing. They can't copy from SLA file as it is copyrighted.

I am using the nokia 5800. A touch screen phone...so screen size is not a problem as compare to candy bar phone. Anyway i use the voice command so hardly look at the phone after i have set it. The GPS navigation is FOC from what i have checked with nokia. If you want to use the real time traffic or weather than there is data charge. Otherwise just set you destination for voice navigation is FOC. [drivingcar]

Yah bro..

I agree.. but if get the HU with GPS or add on GPS, the situtation will be different...

1) Battery life limited to 3-5 hours only depend on model.. need to charge

That's what the supplied car charger are for.

With built in GPS, no need to charge. No wire, not messy..

With stand alone GPS, can take along on short walks into unknown forested areas, especially in MY. Or can transfer from 1 car to another especially if u sell your car.

2) If forget to keep when you get off car, wind screen may be smash..

a matter of habits , just like cash card.

Won't forget to remove/keep GPS, can just remove car key and walk off.

I leave my GPS in the mount for abt 1 year already & so far, nobody try to steal & I park in HDB MSCP even.

3) Friends may borrow from you anytime.

Depending on what 'type' of friends you have.

My college very "gian pheng"/cheapsate one... gurantee will borrow from me when he go north one.

With in built GPS, even if I lend him, he also can't use... [laugh][laugh]

Can always say U also need to use at that time. Also I prefer not to lend cos after he fiddle here & there & all my stored info gone then how. Plus if he drop & later it go haywire, U also dont know he drop it unless he tell u, which I doubt he wil.
