Mazda cars never have good FC, only 1 model has better FC which is the Mazda 2 due to its weight and size.

Till now, Mazda did not make any effort to improve on their engines and make it more refined whereas other brands did put in the extra effort like Honda or Nissan.

another 10 days, its a year old. Best fc 8km/l, initial run-in period. After that never ever reach there again. I went for 1 meet up initially, after that, bo-time. Those guys are hardercore. If meet more with them, sure kenna poison jialat-jialat.

12km/l consider quite [thumbsup] liao [nod][nod][nod]

There are many others whom are having 9-10km/l and their ride are stock [nod][nod][nod]

Maybe they 'Ta You' like nobody's business [gossip][gossip][gossip]

For mine, coming to 4 years still hovers between 11~12km/l running with aftermarket exhaust, 17", soundproof with mild ICE [nod][nod][nod]

I don't see why people saying it's thristy [rolleyes][rolleyes][rolleyes]

Yes I Agree, Frankly, When I bought this car, I thought 10+ is okay for me as I liked the ride..Mine is 1 yr old. everything is stock and 16''. I have friends who drive sunny also gets arnd this.. Maybe everyone's expectation is like 15+ atleast.. only honda fit /jazz can give that i think and they are not 1.6... can you name a 1.6ltr car with the lowest fuel consumption?

yah loh, agreed with u. One car cannot fit everyone expectation mah. For me, i like Mazda 3 becos of its looks. if go for looks, then definitely dun need to talk about FC loh. It is hardly to get a car in the market with this good price, low FC and great look.

Most importantly is one must [inlove] the ride [nod][nod][nod] as it would be sticking to one at least for a couple of years or more unless one is really that rich & loaded [sunny][sunny][sunny] or they just want a 'Kar Ta' AKA 'Point A to Point B transport' and that FC really matters to them a lot [nod][nod][nod]

So far those 1.6L cat ones hovers between 9-13 or 14 km/l generally [nod][nod][nod]

Of couse some will say can get 15-18km/l but running on NS Highway lah [flowerface][flowerface][flowerface]

What we are comparing here is daily running conditions on everyday road [:)]

Yes, even for the new mazda 2, the engine is essentially the old Mazda's 2 engine and they detuned it for better emssion.

So in order to provide the illusion that they have "improved" the engine's FC, they reduce the car's weight by 100+ kg and improve on the aerodynamics to reduce drag.

Exactly..I think bef buying a car, one must compare with table listed with

Engine capacity, Engine type, tyre size, weight and the last price & fuel consumption.

Recently got a chance to see MZ3 hoisted up.(in a car course) Engine well protected with a thick plastic sheet. In case if you bruise against low kerb.. this will protect the engine.. quite impressed as most other 1.6 dont have this, according to the instructor..

Me driving a 2007 SP too. Avg FC 11.8Km. Although it is underpower as the body is heavy. BUT the ride is solid and very stable , with nice interior/exterior design.

[thumbsup]
