Solar film a must in Singapore weather?

just checking if anyone here who did not contribute to the solar film industry?

is it really useful? I go into all my friends car with "whatever" Cool, all very hot if park under Sun.

does that mean, without Cool, the experience would be worst? burning hot?

getting a Fit08 that comes with tinted glass for back windows and rear windscreen, do they need to be "Cool" too ?

It's not so much for keeping the car cool when parked under the Sun.

It's more for keeping the heat out when u are actually IN the car, like when u are driving it. i have driven a car w/o film and could feel the heat of the sun on my skin. i even noticed my right arm being darker than my left!

my current car has film and i don't feel the heat that much. in fact most of the time i don't feel the heat at all.

seems like this investment have to be done..

any lobang to intro?

my PI wanted to charge me $150 just for front windscreen and 2 front window...since my rear window and windscreen are factory tinted...but I think they are not UV protected..am I right?

greenhouse effect will prevail no matter what tint. the 10-20% of infrared will make ur car JUST AS HOT as the next car without solar film, given enough time.

however, it will take longer to heat up ur car to the "max", and once u switch on the air con, the car will cool down much faster, with solar film. also, aircon does not have to work so hard

but the point is that, with or without solar film, u confirm burn backside if u jump into the car straight away after parking in the sun for a few hours on a cloudless day [bounce1][bounce1][laugh]

Neutral Newbie

depending on what brand he's giving you...

but its quite expensive.. cause for the whole car tinting you can get about 200 only...

if i am not wrong factory tinted windows also need tinting... as the factory windows does not reject UV.

the cheap ones act not much effect...i used on 2 of my previous cars....those $200 type...but i mus say Vkool is real solid...even their cheapest package...

nothing is a must.

The objective of solar film is to help reject heat and UV from entering thru the windows while u are driving.

If you park under the sun for a long time, there is nothing to help block the heat out.

There is a lot of difference between cheap films vs good ones.

Think of the difference like wearing a cap (cheapo film) to block the sun heat and using a large golf brolly (gd quality film) to do so.

$200 type, i rather u don't waste your money and don't do at all

Maybe I'm jus weird. I don't have any solar film installed because I don't like the tinted look.

Compared with my previous cars that had solar films installed, I actually don't feel much, if any difference at all...

I feel it is essential for our climate. I think any car that parked under hot sun for a prolong period will be hot...just very hot or very, very hot. The obvious diff between car with and with solar film is that when the sun light hit someone in the car. Without the film, people in the car will feel intense heat on the part of their body that was hit by direct sun light. With good solar film, that will not be the case.

well..it might be another advantage for using solar film..but becos some of the glasses are already shatter proof...not a really compelling reason to get the film (I saw this word on the Fit08)

I think I will go try out a few weeks or so without the film...

Bro,

The glass is not shatter proof, unless yours is the armoured version. It's tempered to make it stronger, and if broken it will disintegrate into many pieces with relatively blunt edges. These pieces can still fly and embed into the occupants of the cars.

Some cars come with laminated glasses but I still believe a good solar film will help to hold the broken glass together.

As for sun protection, try driving one with no film in bright sun and one with a good film. You will find the sun less "biting".
