the engine heat may cause premature damage to the cam. unless specially designed.

I thought can drill it into the front bumper like how front sensors are fitted?

Anyone has any idea where I can get front parking camera (ie. like reserve cam, but for the front) installed?

But how to activate it? Reverse cam is on when you shift to "R".

Via a button switch?

Front sensor I know of but not front cam. I know some cars like Odyssey, the AD install this front sensor at the two corners, with colour display on the dash showing from green to red.

Really if you can't park without the help of a camera you shouldn't be driving.

bro, don't speak too early. sometimes in a tight situation, the camera aids the parking.

it prevents damages to either party.

the beauty of a having a 7" LCD (playback the rear) in level with the 2 wing mirrors is that at glance from left to right, you get your car into a parallel parking lot.

Autoform has a device that switches between front and rear camera during parking.

You should see the kind of parking I'm referring to. It took me quite some time to get it right. But my wife may not that that kind of luxury of getting used to it. Front bumper and rear bumper on have a around 10cm allowance...with low wall (no higher than 40cm.) [;)]

front camera works just like e reverse, it activates when at 'D'. if you think it's irritating while you drive, just turn it off. but it only views e front, not e corners.

Depending on the mounting, 170 degrees camera can cover quite a wide area.

Mr B20,

We call those parking aid devices. Lousy drivers drives luxury cars fitted with all these, are you sticking to a B20 forever.?

IMO, the reason for more lousy drivers is because the cost of ownership of vehicles have came down.

The same place where they do reverse camera...they will also do the front camera for you!

Tell the installer to do a manual on/off switch for the front camera. The switch usually located near the settering wheel area.

Link the front camera video feed to your car TV screen. You may have to manually select Video-1 to view the front image, each time you wish to see the images.

As for the rear camera, the car TV screen has the auto detect function to switch to Video-2 to view rear camera when it sense the image signal when you put gear to reverse. Meaning the car TV screen will automatically force swtich to the Video-2, no matter you are listening to radio or watching DVD at that monent.

Actually its the reverse signal light electrical cable that is being tapped by for the reverse camera power. Meaning when the reverse light is on, the reverse camera will also be on, since they share the same power cable.

You front camera power source can ALSO be tapped together with your front Fog Light, thereby saving you additional on/off switch installation. Meaning when you want to view the front camera, you just have to turn on the front fog light!

The whole idea of switching between front and rear cams during parking is quite simple.

the logic is something like that, i'm not sure if it works coz I'm not a electronics student before. LOL

When Reverse is engaged, it charges up a capacitor on the circuit whilst triggers the LCD turn on, the rear cam is fed to the LCD. When reverse is disengaged, it stop charging the capacitor and drains the capacitor with a desire load (x seconds) continue to trigger LCD on, a relay will turn on front cam and feed to the LCD until the capicator discharges completely.
