Veryfree Clutched May 8, 2009 Share May 8, 2009 That might be it. They know women spends the most nowadays whether the money comes from themselves or their spouses. So it makes sense to make a car that woman wants. Sneaky marketers... guess what? most ladies drive sporty and flashy cars today, i am not talking about aunties who drive MPV/SUV/Sedan. i do admit that they are helping to beautify the traffic somehow. if you want to sell a car with italian/french flair, ladies should be the target. for men, sell the engine will do. ↡ Advertisement
Veryfree Clutched May 8, 2009 Share May 8, 2009 BTW, did you ever notice and heard before that lots of gay like to purchase Mazda 3? I think I heard it from somewhere before gay maylike Mazda 2 or MX-5 better. certainly not sedan if choice is given.
Axela72 5th Gear May 8, 2009 Share May 8, 2009 (edited) in all seriousness, i find Honda to be the brand that is most overpriced. look at the city, accord, jazz, all so much more expensive than their counterparts. I also agree with that. Take an example of the 1.3L Jazz. Beside the better FC (as it is only 1.3L), it's price is in par or even much higher than other brand 1.6L car. Talking about power, how powerful is the 1.3L Jazz vs old Mazda 3? I know someone again will told us that Honda has a higher OMV, but the price tag is much more higher than the OMV difference. I have no grudge with Honda. I also like Honda. But the price of a 1.6L Civic Japanese car at more than 70k is simply not worth it Edited May 8, 2009 by Axela72
7007 2nd Gear May 8, 2009 Share May 8, 2009 In all fairness, pls tell me which Jap cars is value for $$$ now??? The Koreans are hot seller now simply becos they lower profit margin go for volume sale. MM is always a joke since day one just take a close at their PM!!! It's a really pity as i agree Mazda do design nice cars!
Gnoikj Neutral Newbie May 8, 2009 Share May 8, 2009 Agree...when u look at it this way.... But have to bear in mind, Mazda Dealer mark up the price horribly...after 1 year, the price fell like crazy (for the old Mazda 3)....from 80+k to high 60+k...goes to show the intrinsic value of the car.... those who buy it now will cry when that happens.... The Koreans are hot seller now simply becos they lower profit margin go for volume sale. It may be hard to get the Japs car to be value for $$.. even if their market share drop badly, in order to maintain the same level of profitability, they will have to decide.. to increase profit margins. Sell less car but maintain profitability.. which is at higher price. Will this work.. it will. Because there's a good number of hardcare J's car fan who believe they get their $$ worth and confidence of "proven" reliability. They dun mind to pay extra for that. It's about bottom line... Davedesouza Neutral Newbie May 8, 2009 Share May 8, 2009 I got to give it to Mazda spokeman Azela72 for standing up for the new Mazda 3 again and again. But at the end of the day, let the consumers decide. We can then judge who are the fools.
Yaloryalor 5th Gear May 8, 2009 Share May 8, 2009 I dunno why people call their Mazdas... M3, M6, etc... This term should be left for the BMW ///M series cars... Precisely Bro!
Axela72 5th Gear May 8, 2009 Share May 8, 2009 How do you justify someone who bought or dont bought a car is a fool? It is always based on personal perspective. However, I simply can't stand ppls whom just by making assumption without concrete data to judge 'death sentance' to someone else. You can see in those ppls that mentioned Mazda doesn't worth that kind of price (BTW, it seem that some ppls still having the mentality that Mazda 3 is 76k?, which infact is 67k) is always based on the car performance. I do 100% agree that if based on performance, Mazda 3 is suck. However, buying a car does not alway based on the car spec. The aesthetic stength also play a major role to some buyer as well. All I can say is most who vote "not worth it" is targeting on the weakness (performance) of that car. other than that, they can't say anything bad about mazda 3 with justification. As for compare with Koeran unbelieved car price (~$40k), all other car brand, including so called premium Honda as declare by someone is also down the drain. Vextan 1st Gear May 8, 2009 Share May 8, 2009 i for one am very impressed by the great balancing and ride of Mazda cars, which very few other Japanese/Korean makes can achieve. The ride and comfort feels like a much more expensive conti car.

Axela72 5th Gear May 8, 2009 Share May 8, 2009 (edited) Well, looks are subjective. I must say the Mazda 3 looks fresh... nice.. but nothing spectacular. Precisely. I believed that is what they are targeting at. If inital launch dont charge high, later when ppls start getting tire of the fresh look, how can they take the advantage by then? Do reminded that some ppls willing to pay extra cash just to be the 1st few ppls to drive the new model of the car. Take an example on Altis. Isn't during the new altis when they initial launch is also ~67k or higher as compare with their current price now? Take note that the new Altis also using the same old Altis engine without bring in the Dual-VVTi one Edited May 8, 2009 by Axela72
