I used to like assembling PCs. Do homework then go sls with pricelist and get items. First one was a Pentium 2 266MHz in 1998 that had a 33.6k us robotics modem. Along the way had a mix of AMD and intel chips. From my memory: Thunderbird, Athlon, celeron, sandy bridge. Last one that I assembled myself was an ivy bridge, then I really lost touch and no more time after having a kid. Not really sticky to particular brand, see which one was better or better VFM at the time.

Most recently ordered a Ryzen 5 T14s thinkpad, supposed to arrive tomorrow. For laptop, I only go thinkpads. I still have a 14 year old X61 that can still run.

I see all PCs the same.
Generally, those old intel chipset gave me lesser weird problems. 🤣

Still using 3rd Gen Intel processor. Mainly the I5 3570k for my children gaming PC. Still can play their Valoran and Roblox quite well at 1080p. Graphic card are the ancient AMD Radeon HD7950.

Actually the chip doesn't make much difference unless you high end user or gamer.

The most important thing is I changed from harddisk to SSD and boot up time drop from 32 seconds to only 11 seconds and everything faster now.

:D
