How often the fast food replace their oil ? Any audit here?

In 1991 to 1992, was working in KFC.

The norm to change the frying oil was approx 2 weeks per change.

Anyway, fyi, the residue of the frying oil was the essense in making the gravy for the whip potato if you dont know..

 

Hot water mixed with the solid residue (left over from deep frying),

then blend together to get the gravy

we sometimes reuse the oil at hme to deep fry food like chicken wings for own consumption.use until the oil turns black then throw.

All of us did not get to see their oil. Want to see how does it look like? Go visit any of the Shihlin Taiwanese outlets around the isalnd - their blackened, heavily-recycled oil is visible to all. It should look something like that. lol. [sweatdrop]

u are right...that's a layman way of looking for smoking....without analysing physically the oil content for unhealthy substance..

lets imagine how much the oil gets deep fried everyday? how much the oil can fry so many pcs of chicken?

imagine that over a day period..its gross and unhealthy

imagine that over a week period... its very gross and unhealthy

now over a 2 weeks period...

MAN..u will not even want to think about it

 

then taking into consideration, its a fast food restuarant...

well, how often we expect them to change their oil when we pay this amount for their food?

they are running a business...

we cannot really expect them to do the best when we are only paying them such an amount....

recycled cooking oil is big business in SG

 

the filtered cooking oil is used as bio diesel

 

euro 3 and below diesel chaps can use it [thumbsup]

 

all the euro 4 and above chaps, don touch this :mellow:

 

so if you are a heavy user of cooking oil, don dump the black gold down the drain

 

sell it to recycyling companies.

 

off course you got to have a certain quaintiy before they start buying from you

Once work in Macdonald. Their deep fying machines have a filter function and they filter their oil and clean the stove every few days.. But they change their oil only when it reaches a certain colour if I am not wrong.

 

To change the oil everyweek is quite wasteful. The oil is like about 3-4 litres per stove if you change.

Really very glad that Taiwan has this type of super active consumer rights group that goes around inspecting and checking on food and things.

WTF???? fo sure??? .........................man i loved whipped potato b4 this....esp the gravy. [knife]
