Class 2B Riding Lessons & All Abt Motorcycles

Humans were built to walk and run only.

Anyone who has never operated a moving vehicle will need time to understand how speed and braking works. This is where riding the bicycle helps vs someone who has never ridden one before (eg. they know not to jam the fookin brakes when they want to slow down or stop). Not to mention better understanding of speed and distance.

Basically the person who has ridden before will have less to adapt to and be less task-loaded during the learning process, because some of the basic understanding is already there in the brain. Better still someone who has ridden a bicycle with gears, because they will understand the concept of gearing as well. Then it's a matter learning where the controls are and putting the coordination together.

Also a big jump is the innate understanding and experience of the gyroscopic effect that rotating wheels have to stabilise a two-wheel vehicle. They might never even heard about gyroscopic forces before, but if you can explain it in layman's terms most people understand and it helps speed up the initiation to handling a motorcycle.

The same kind of applies to learner drivers. If they have ever operated something smaller, eg. go-kart or forklift etc, they will find it easier to relate and pick up things.

recalled the toy as a kid. The miniature toy motorbike, front plastic wheel, back is a metal thicker wheel. insert the zip all the way & pull the zip out, toy will dash & balance well. If the toy stand still, cant quite balance...or when toy slows down, will start wobbling...

A few questions:

Fluctuating RPM.

On startup, RPM is low and requires choke for at least a minute or two to prevent it from dropping below 1K . After moving off, RPM once again drops below 1K and WILL stall at junctions if I don't maintain a constant throttle to keep the RPM going, or tune the idling. After tuning the idling, the bike will be fine and I'll get to where I want to without any other incidents. Problem will occur again on the next trip. Recurring problem. [:(]

Another incident is at junctions while on neutral, RPM will randomly shoot up to 3K and gets stuck there. Have to retune the idling again to bring the idle down.

All this happened after I washed and tuned my carb at a bike shop (not my usual ws).

Is this a carburetor/float issue, choke stuck issue, throttle stuck issue or smtg else? I brought it back to my usual ws and my mech told me my carb 'lao hong' and asked if anyone washed my carb prior to this. I've had to wash my carb twice in January already.

Anyone knows if changing the whole damn carb will solve this?

Sounds like carb issue that simple "washing" is not going to help. I would suggest if a carb rebuild (not sure if anyone does it) or a new carb.

Yeah that's exactly it, works on all two-wheelers.

Time to revive this forgotten thread. Btw bro, indeed is carb issue. Got my carb replaced last month and I've been enjoying my ride since then. [laugh]

Good good, sometimes these old carbs are already worn out and just need to be replaced.

I should have known. At this rate for 2 you'll be riding a Fireblade.

I actually have no aspirations for a class2. Maybe the license, but not the bike. 400cc enough for sg roads. Dream bike definitely, Ducati Streetfighter or Gsxr600.

Don't say so soon, get your 2 then say

My workshop selling their track-prepped MV F3, it would make a nice toy. Plus all the taxes have been paid, just need to get COE and can register for road use.... [lipsrsealed]

Would make a nice partner for my F4 [idea]

The only bikes to consider in 2A - cbr, rvf, pgm.. maybe maybe ninja 300 but too expensive for a 2a and I heard it is underpowered..

Problem is my F4 is under-utilised as it is. Last weekend I just realised its now 28 months old and I've only clocked about 8,200km on it. I've also only taken it to a track ONCE this year and my next trackday is only in July. If I get the F3 then lagi worse, both will be underutilised.

Sigh, first world problems.
