the entrance there leading into the KPE is accident prone. too many accidents at the same area to be dismissed as coincidental. A lot of drivers are driving way above 80km/h in the morning rush hour b4 the entrance to KPE. Some will slow down to keep to the speed limit upon entering KPE and probably the change in speed might cause some drivers off guard especially in bumper to bumper rush hour.

IIRC, just before entry and after exit of KPE speed is 50-60

Nope, coming from TPE to KPE, slip road is 50...once end of slip road, and down past Tampines road is 80. Exit tunnel to rochor I think is 50, that part not so sure.

The accident happen at the bottom of slip road from TPE, I believe the car (one bro said Yaris) was coming from TPE - not sure of bike. But the order of the vehicles was weird (to me) victim first, then bike, then car. Seemed totally back to front.

All bro, please bear in mind that the part of the KPE where this happen is above ground, which is from TPE to down past Tampines Road. The accident happen at the TPE end, where the traffic merges from TPE towards SLE side. the accident was roughly at the bend in the pix here <iframe width="425" height="240" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.com.sg/maps/sv?cbp=12,216.86,,0,15.48&cbll=1.380386,103.916011&panoid=&v=1&hl=en&gl=sg"></iframe><br /><small><a href="http://maps.google.com.sg/maps?f=q&source=embed&hl=en&geocode=&q=kpe+%2F+tpe&sll=1.492598,103.848953&sspn=0.496275,0.890579&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Kpe+(tpe)&ll=1.334117,103.878822&spn=0,359.986085&t=h&z=14&layer=c&cbll=1.380386,103.916011&panoid=458IfVU_0_cCUgi6ppxRQA&cbp=12,216.86,,0,15.48" style="color:#0000FF;text-align:left">View Larger Map</a></small>

Bank officer gets fine, ban

By Elena Chong

A MAN who caused the death of a pillion rider was fined $8,000 and banned from driving for four years on Wednesday.

Bank officer Kevan Chow Chongwei, 27, who pleaded guilty, had failed to give way to straight-going traffic while making an authorised U-turn at a signalised cross-junction between Still Road and Koon Seng Road at about midnight on March 21.

His car hit a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction of Still Road, resulting in the death of the pillion, Madam Ong Suat Tee, 57.

Madam Ong, unemployed, was taken to Changi General Hospital where she died about 17 hours later.

Another charge of causing hurt to the 58-year-old rider of the bike was taken into consideration during his sentencing.

Chow could have been jailed for up to two years and/or fined for causing death through his negligence.

May i clarify one thing.... if those riders riding in between cars in the highways....if they misjudge or had an accident

who's at fault? it should be the car driver as they are in the correct lane....NOT the rider though...which is riding in the LINE

not LANE (unless they see an invisible lanes there...)

I am not biased against any race or nationality , but it seems like nowadays lots of lorry drivers on the road are PRC and i personally have encounter afew who thought they are driving in China and that is reckless driving , failing to keep a lookout for other vehicle when changing lane and inch his way into your lane even when you are beside his lorry ( whether you giving way or not ) since you are at the losing end mah . Damn . See them better siam far away cos they bring their habit of driving in their own country into Singapore . Haiz
