saw lots of luxury cars there too. they even venture into lots of new business beside car servicing now. the boss changed fr mark x to lexus now.

good or no good jus see how their business flourish u'll know. their experience workers are very well paid n taken care of....mayb tats y their charges is a bit more than the rest.

well said.. that's why you see the business flourishing =) their charges are not the cheapest... but then its not that expensive also.. give them a try... if you are not convince.. try speaking to vincent when you are at the workshop ^^

Here is my unbias experience. I am neither supporter/customer or against Riverview.

My car is due for 40K servicing and I am sourcing for a place to do my servicing. Since I heard so much abt Riverview, decided to give them a call to try.

First, I called Vincent, since his name is mentioned so many times. He answered and apologised that he is driving and told me to call his workshop and speak to Manly. So I called the workshop and asked for Manly but the lady who answered my call said he was busy. I told her I would like to enquire on 40K servicing and she said she can help me.

Before calling, I already checked their website and for my Toyota Axio, it should be S$280 w/o GST. The lady asked me what car, I said Toyota Axio. She replied S$300, I repeat again Toyota Axio is 1.5L. She repeat again S$300 w/o GST. Hur??? [hur] Why website and ur pricing different??? Dont want to argue with her. Then I asked her abt the CVT oil which is different from the standard. She checked and told me its S$144 w/o GST. Their standard oil is S$35 w/o GST so it will be S$300 - S$35 + S$144 = S$409 w/o GST. [dead]

I called Hanip, everything in + the CVT oil is S$300 nett. NO GST at all. Went to Stamford, same thing, evrything in + the CVT oil is S$318 nett.

I can only say, I will not be going to Riverview for my 40K servicing. My own Thomson Caltex workshop offer me S$100+, all filter + fluid I BYO. [thumbsup]

the boss is driving a lexu IS250. Grey in colour

So what if Vincent is driving IS250? This shows that he is very successful in running his business despite the fact that it is very competitve out there. He has the edge over others which others may not be able to provide. That's why he has many regulars and supporters. Get a life and move on la.

Chatted with Vincent this afternoon and confirmed that his girl has quoted you wrongly as she is not familiar with your car model. So it should be $280 before GST as per the website.

The price of the CVT oil is based on cost price (which Yen has gone up cosiderably) + % mark up. He is very transparent in his pricing to the extent that he can show you his cost price with the exact mark up to run his business. Ya, he actually laminated his % mark up to show his customers. That's what I like about him being transparent.

GST collection is for the government as RV's turnover > 1 mil per year. It does not go to Vincent's pocket. If you look at it from another angle, a workshop which has got more business and exceeded 1 mil has to collect GST by law, vesus another workshop who has lower turnover due to whatever reasons needs not collect GST.

RV may be a good workshop to their regulars and supporters but may not be good to others by their own standards. So one should always go to the workshop that he is comfortable with. RV is not the only good workshop in Singapore.

Cheers

are you referring to Hanip? Go visit VOGS and ask the old birds there... I will not comment on Hanip.... cheapest does not mean the best...

your caltex workshop $100.. + all third party filters.... fluid you bringing your own, hence unfair comparision.. Btw, RV only uses GENUINE TOYOTA DENSO parts...

i think u can still stick to your cheap cheap workshop =) if you are looking for the cheapest, please look elsewhere. i am into mantaining my ride for long term..

my car is maintained by RV. I should say that the workmanship is good and their workers are friendly. the boss waive the charges for me when i sent my car for installation of two undercarriage bars. RV gooda.... [thumbsup]

Maybe the boss know u, that why no charge? I am also a regular of RV since 2007, when I got a struct bar from a bro in forum (he is also a RV regular) and install at RV, charged me $5 and I knew in the end that $5 went to that bro pocket cos I saw the boss waved (means no) his hand when that bro wanted to pay him <_<

But then, I am comfortable sending my car to there for servicing, only concern is their GST charges [:(] So now, for basic servicing I bought my own oil and parts and replaced myself. Maybe when major servicing then go back to them. [:p]

BTW, my PI appointed workshop(MBM) also quoted me $380 for the job. Thatz why I sourcing for lower rates. For such major servicing I rather go with those larger workshops. I would go to Stamford as it is only 1km from my place. :D

And all workshop I asked quoted for GENUINE TOYOTA DENSO.

FYI, I checked with the Axio forum, 4L of Toyota CVT oil(white can) is only S$50 from stockist. Change of CVT oil uses 4L and full flushing will require 8L.

So when the lady quoted S$144 for the CVT oil, I got nothing much to say except [knife][knife][knife]

I got nothing more to add. [lipsrsealed] Sorry for the demoralising post but thatz what was conveyed to me over the phone by the lady from RV.
