Picanto, why don't you tell us about your experience with Riverview?

 

 

i have no bad nor good experience with RV. despite what you all may think, i am speaking the truth.

as i have say many times, "let the forumers decide".

if you think RV is good, then continue with them.

actually come to think of it, if the intention of the TS was to create "awareness" for Riverview... He definitely did so, however it wasn't to the positive awareness that he was looking at.

 

Dear fellow forumers, when you are free just make a trip down to Riverview. Look at the cars being serviced there, there are expensive continental marques being serviced there.. Why? Just talk to vincent over at the workshop when you are there.. you will know ^^

 

i never been there, but i believe they have got some substance to attract so many regulars and supporters.

The fact of the matter is, I am only their customer part of the time; I am not their die-hard supporter. In fact, I would only go to them if I can't get the same level of service or competency anywhere else besides the authorized dealer. Most of the time, a car only needs a change of oil, spark plugs, or various filters. Those don't justify me paying a premium for it, and I get it done elsewhere. But for the times that your car has a serious problem, their service is invaluable.

 

It seems to me that you have a bias against the workshop - when I replied that they have the technical expertise and equipment to perform diagnostic services, you expressed doubt - without even (as you claim) having been their customer before. And your comments have been to highlight the workshop's failings despite the fact that there were more positives than negative comments.

 

If you are really as clear of conscience as you claim to be, then perhaps you need to carefully phrase your questions and comments lest they be misunderstood to be groundless accusations of what is a decent (but premium priced) workshop.

 

Mr. Mong, you would get my business more often if your prices were 20% lower than what they are now. I know you have often explained about overheads especially of expensive diagnostic programs and the need to spread the cost out, but I am sure I am not the only one that is priced out of being your regular customer.

I happen to be a RV supporter and do knows some issue behind the crankshaft pulley.

 

Margin ain't the reason but the issue of quality that vincent is uncomfortable with, he has make losses due to the recall program which is very commentable of him( at least to me) as it involve cost and some form of reputation.

 

After going thru the many pages of comments, i can't figure out what's the main draw in this thread abt RV, Bad comments was immediately supported and good one not mention. I will not say it is "obvious" but still trying to figure out what Mr picanto wanted of it. Pricing has always been a sensitive thing, it is everywhere, if RV pricing is not acceptable, market forces would have driven RV out long ago. However, they do have their supporter and of coz some unhappy customer as well, that's life! i am sure those who are mature enough would have know this, not all biz strategy is agreeable to all but the main essence is that it is for the good of the company, that's what Vincent direction for RV. Allow me to quote an Eg, is BEEMER "X"? to me yes, to some it is value for $$$ due to comfort, built, safety etc. I wish i can buy one but it is beyond me, i buy something that i can afford but i never discredit beemer is good!but there might be a group that think Beemer ain't good, that personal choice, move on to something that you are happy with.

 

I guess end of the day it is a case of pricing/comfort level thing, if RV ain't your place, go somewhere u comfortable with, u can't change their biz strategy, afterall, it is him who runs his biz, he answer to his guys/company if it fails. Always rem, U do have a choice to say No as RV always give out pricing before starting the repair/servicing, if there is miscalculating, i am sure Vincent will take it up separately with the owner.

 

For adrianLi, unfortunately, the clerical lady makes a mistake, she has been heavily reprimanded and next time only key representative can quote, she will not quote anyone on pricing but will take down your no. for the rightful person to get back to you, she ask me to apologise on her behalf for the mistake that causes you so much trouble.

 

To Mr Picanto, Vincent thanks you for your kind concern over his business. To let you trouble over his business is something i am sure he is pai say over it, he hope to see you for a cuppa of coffee and chat with you on how RV should be run. If you do have some spare time, do visit autopoint for good workshop and find vincent for a coffee, he will be glad to chat with you.

I am more than willing to bring my car over to RV to do the major servicing if they are able to do a price match with the other workshops I got quotes from for my 40K servicing.

 

My PI appointed workshop(MBM) quoted me S$380.

 

Hanip quoted S$300.

 

Stamford quoted S$318.

 

I have not done my 40K servicing yet and will be doing it on boxing day. I am leaning towards Stamford as its only 1km away from my place and I know the foreman + mechanic over there. I am trying to avoid MBM because of the cost and location but I dont mind trying out other workshops provided their prices are below MBM. However I cant accept the fact that RV is charging higher than MBM. I have my warranty with MBM but I dont bother with warranty lah, I'm a mechanic myself but marine one. Given the proper tools, I can also service my own car. Onboard ship, we service everything, from main engines to generators to aircon to air compressors to purifiers to evaporators to RO plants. For engines, we are certified trained to do up to top overhaul, meaning until removal of cylinder head, piston and bottom end bearings. And we do it out at sea when its rocking and pitching. There are no workshops out at sea.

In Europe & US, ws charge per hour. Even some ws here adopt a similar standard by charging the labour costs based on how long the work took but I think here u can expect the ws to abuse this practice by working slowly & dragging the work to charge more labour. Especially at times when biz is slow.

 

 

That why motorists here still prefer to get a quote for the whole job b4 deciding if to go ahead or not.

 

The garage is a good prog. Also got another where they buy a car & the ws repair it to very good condition with a fixed budget.

 

I see the low prices of the cars there & sliva drip.

 

That show is Wheeler Dealers.

 

There is also Wreck Rescue and Overhauling where they take an old car and restore it. Then if u wana see pimped out ride, check out Street Tuner Challenge and Street Customs. Previously MTV used to show Pimp My Ride too, but tis more of entertainment than educational.

riverview seems to be quite good with toyotas, how about nissan cars? i am driving cvt latio so am looking for outside workshop familiar with nissan cvt now that my warranty over. i dun hav much dealing with RV except that used to go to them for wheels alignment with kenny .

Me too, I am a die hard supporter of RV and the boss Vincent.. Those who knows me will know.. It was the same in VOGS, the same in MCF and the same to my friends. ^^

 

I never deny it as well.. Those old birds will know, if i strongly believe in something i will strongly advocate it as well. I am weixiang_06, old birds will know who i am.

must give him a chance, he somehow reminds me of myself when i strongly advocate people not to drive to JB. For me, i rather BMW to JB, the stance hasn't changed a single bit.
